Pokemon Trading Card Game

Made a card scanner out of Lego

I'm fairly new to the hobby, and as I've been amassing a fair collection of cards, I wanted an easy way to catalog them. I found the Dex app with it's scanner feature and decided to make a rig that lets me scan cards en masse. Now to sit back, watch a movie, and scan some cards!

Huh I need to do this. How well does it scan though? I find scanning only works well with a pure background

very nice, but please be more gentle with rarer cards. even dropping them like that can cause damage to the edges.

My concern with these is the top of the card banging onto the hard plastic wall. If there was a foam on the end I’d feel better about these.

Huh, that’s a neat app. I use Collectr, wish more apps had the auto scan like this. (Even if you have to go in and assign condition after the batch is uploaded)

You should honestly patent something like this. Really cool idea especially if you can iron out whatever it needs and get it working perfectly. Could be a really cool invention for the hobby.

  6. I’ll have to check Dex out. I’ve been using the Price Charting app for my scans. Nice rig idea, too! I’ve been debating building a 3D printed scanner box but the LEGO option might be an easy substitute in the mean time.

Thinking quickly, OP constructs a homemade card scanner, using only some LEGO, a squirrel, and a card scanner app.

  8. Wow that’s really impressive. Few questions.

How did you get your Lego to look and function like an iPhone?

Are you worried about Apple coming after you for copying their product?

Finally, would it not have been cheaper to just buy an iPhone considering how expensive Lego is?

I made one out of a tissue box. It worked only about 80% of the time lol.

Now build a feeder out of Lego so you can drop your entire deck and it scans 1 by 1.
