Hi fellow trainers! I wanted to design a Pokémon based on the concept of nightmare, or night-mare. So, I gave our good old Ponyta a regional Normal-type form, with a Normal / Ghost evolution.
Inspiration
While Ponyta is generally based on a untamed horse, Sleymare (sleep / Sleipnir + nightmare) incorporates the traditional design of Odin's steed Sleipnir, with its eight legs and the connection between realm of the living and realm of the dead.
Evolution method
Ponyta evolves into Sleymare after getting a glipse of what the otherworld is: evolution is triggered by leveling up after having fainted while asleep.
What's new
For Sleymare, I designed a new ability and a signature move, which I see working well in sinergy.
The Dream Catcher ability allows it to heal a bit for every Pokémon, ally or foe, asleep on the field. The move Otherworld Vision, instead, has all opponents falling asleep when selected; they will to receive damage on the next turn and immediately wake up.
