Grass starter: Foliama
The Grass Llama Pokemon
Pokedex entry: Foliama is covered in very sharp thorns. It uses them for both defense as well as damaging the opponent. It would ram itself and it’s thorny body into anything when it gets slightly triggered.
My notes: If this was real, it would be both not only the first llama pokemon, but the first Grass starter base form who does not have a happy expression. I made it intentionally and exaggeratedly enraged as a result. My plans for the final evo is to have either the Grass/Steel or Grass/Ice typing. The final evo stats would have physical defense and special attack as the highest stats.
Fire starter: Magmavante
The Lava Shot Pokemon
Pokedex entry: It is capable of blasting real volcanic lava from it’s trunk. Shooting out this heated energy is it’s main form of attacking and the projectiles can reach great distances.
My notes: I can imagine an elephant starter would work for any type but I chose Fire because the idea of shooting lava from a trunk sounded interesting. I actually have drawn a middle stage for this, feel free if you want me to upload it on it’s own or wait until I finish middle stages for the rest of them. It would eventually gain the Fire/Fairy typing and the final evo’s stats would have high special attack and are the fastest of the three starters. The next two evos are the only bipedal mons out of all starter stages.
Water starter: Whebble
The Whale Pokemon
Pokedex entry: Whebble is large, dense, and can send anything flying with a hard enough tackle. It also has mysterious stony appendages growing on it that it takes good care of.
My notes: Not really that much to say other than I have a really interesting idea for this one’s final evo. The final evo’s type is gonna be Water/Rock, and it’s highest stats are HP and physical attack.
The starter theme of this generation is travel and exploration, but it’s only gonna come into effect with the final evo designs. Whebble’s line are gonna represent space travel, Foliama’s line are gonna represent vehicle travel through forests, Magmavante’s line I initially considered mountain travel but I’m still thinking about that.
