Eternatus Usefulness
Eternatus was given Gmax damage values for its max attack. The max move should also be locked to Dragon type damage only. Eternatus will be the strongest Dragon type max attacker possible, staying ahead of Gmax Duraludon or even a theoretical Dynamax Black or White Kyurem.
Outside of max battles Eternatus will be a beast in raids will how busted the move Dynamax Cannon is.
Even if you can’t get a level 40 Eternatus it is still going to be great at level 30, with hopefully Max Attack level 3.
Eternatus is missing a 0.5s fast move, however it is absurdly tanky. If you’re in a coordinated team with three other players using 0.5s fast move users then Eternatus could make a feasible tank as well.
Tables Methodology
Early Eternamax battles seem to indicate an attack CPM of around 0.685, which is lower than Cinderace was and higher than Lapras round 2. Eternatus in its Eternamax form has an insanely high defense stat. I’m going with the lowest seen HP stat on a Gmax (80,000), but this is just a guess.
Additionally I realized my last couple posts had a fairly bad way of calculating the “Score” or each counter. It was giving Zacian the highest score against Charizard because of Dragon Claw, despite Zacian being awful against all the other fire moves. So this time the Score is the geometric mean of each MCF for each individual spread attack, with an additional cap of 7 MCF for anything that might exceed that. Generally if you’re going more than 14 max cycles in a Gmax battle the boss will be desperate/enraged, so 7 MCF for each of your two tanks is a reasonable limit.
Like usually please look at more than just the score, it’s a very rough estimate, consider each attack in the bosses move pool when building your team.
Attackers
Eternatus Attackers (Edited due to an error)
The absolute best attacker is Eternatus itself, if you can build it up as you go. I’ve included Eternatus at multiple levels to give trainers an idea of where they might consider switching over to Eternatus. Eternatus at level 20 and 30 on the table are with 10 attack IV, while the level 40 version at the top is 15 attack IV. Eternatus aside, hopefully you have a Latios or Metagross built up. Remember Eternatus is very bulky, these battles will likely be the hardest Gmax yet, better attackers, and being aggressive during Max Phases, helps avoid the desperate/enraged timer.
Tanks
Dynamax Cannon hits super hard, and often due to the low cooldown time. Most things are dying quickly to that move. Steel types preform best against as they resist three of the moves; however Flamethrower is super effective against steel. Try to take a diverse team that can handle both of these ends of the spectrum, or take the tried and true double blissey.
1.0s Fast Attack Tanks
Noticeably some bulky pokemon that could be good tanks, but only have 1.0s fast moves are missing from the tables. Pokemon such as Shuckle, Suicune, Articuno, and more, could be of value to your team. However this requires coordination and knowing what other pokemon your teammates are using. Since these pokemon have slower fast attacks they take longer to fill the Max Meter, sometimes leading to the boss landing extra attacks each cycle, and adding additional time towards the desperate/enraged state. If you know your teammates will be using exclusively 0.5s fast moves AND you know you won’t be allowing any extra boss attacks by filling the meter at a slower rate, then by all means bring your shuckle or suicune. I would not advise using a pokemon with a 1.0s fast move when going to a meetup with players using unknown pokemon. Risking the chance of multiple pokemon with 1.0s fast moves will quickly snowball and lead to very time consuming and difficult battles.
