F = a Fast fast move (0.5 seconds)
T = the Type matches (e.g. a fire fast move on a fire type)
D = Defensive abilities (Guard/shield and Spirit/healing)
Here my Machamp is only “T” – his move is not Fast, but does match Type, and he has no Defensive abilities, so I know only to switch to him for attacking.
My Metagross is “FD” because Fury Cutter is Fast but does not match Type and it does have Defensive abilities, so I know at a glance to use it for tanking and powering the meter. (And yes if I switch his fast move to Zen Headbutt I would change it to “TD” to know not to use it to power the meter but to switch to it for the power attack phase.)
My Cinderace is “FT” because his fast move is fast and matches his type but has no Defensive abilities.
And good ol’ Blisssey is “FTD” with a 0.5 second fast move that matches type, and leveled up Defensive abilities.
And Omastar is special – he’s “FT” and I mangled his name to remind me that his fast move required an Elite TM so that I don’t accidentally switch it out.
Any thoughts or feedback? For me it has helped simplify which mon has which abilities. Granted, I usually just run Crowns and Blissey lol, but this helps me keep track of who does what, especially when different typing makes sense and especially for things like Metagross and Omastar that can switch uses by changing their fast move.
