the problem is that you can powerup a pokemon higher than your own level
I think you missed some info that from level 70 to 80 would need a task I’m sure. So max you can get is 70 then you need a task again to go to level 71. So you can’t be level 80 right away just from Xp.

500.000.000xp from lv0 to 80 and in the future 1.000.000.000xp from 0 to lv100 seems logical in my book.
Because I calculating on the current lv 40 is 20m xp and to hit lv0 to lv50 is 176m xp, so when the lv 80 update comes out i guess lv50 will be 100m xp. So 500m xp to lv 80 seems logical and in the future 1billion xp to lv100.
This is nice and logical numbers.

I'm sad I'll not be able to get to level 50 before the change… Right now I'm grinding for level 45, maybe 46. I have enough XP to be level 49, but I was taking it easy with the tasks (I did not evolve the eevees for like a year) 🥲
What is even the point of this if we can’t power up our mons past level 50???

I couldn’t disagree more about powering up pokemon past level 50. The introduction of xl candy when level 50 was released was the single worst thing niantic ever did. The grind to fully power a legendary is next to impossible for someone who can’t devote their life to the game like you can. If I have to get another ~500 xl candy I will quit the game on the spot

The race to lvl 80 will be insane, ppl will use more money to gain extra xp as possible, it's all about filling their vault.
So Pokemon from 40-50 need XL candy…so what do they need to lvl for 50+ ??

So basically on October 15th everyone will automatically jump up some levels or at least a level or 2 I assume. I guess it depends on how much they’re cutting back on the amount of XP needed to level up.
