The blog post for the season says that it’s coming this season. It doesn’t specify when during the season. It just says to keep an eye out for a new social tab.

Give it some time. It’s literally only day 1-2 of the season depending on where you live.
My guess is that these challenges refresh every Monday and that since the season started on a Tuesday, we won’t see the first one until next week.

If it didn’t appear automatically at the start of season, it probably means it was advertised as new feature before the departaments got the info that completing the challenge randomly gives one player 99 Masterballs, deletes one player’s Keldeo and changes last player’s nickname and all their Pokemon nicknames to “R” for some reason.

That might be interesting, either for good or ill depending on how it is implemented.
As for when it might happen, could be any time in the next three months. I did have a look through upcoming events to see if there were any clear tie ins. Nothing obvious to me, no friendship based things or the the like. Apart from the whole season having a bunch of friendship things, which doesn’t narrow it down.
Wait and see.

They’ve still got almost 90 days until the season is over.
While I hoped it would drop immediately and I still hope it’ll drop soon, given all of the failures they’ve been putting out, perhaps it would be better if they took their time and put out a refined feature.
I think it’s likely that this will not be released before October 15th. Good chance it drops with the new cap update I think.
I’d love a way to do stuff with some of my international friends. A lot of us are lucky friends, as well as “best friends” in the game. I’ve enjoyed the postcards and eggs and some cool battles.
Would love to be able to do trades, and get regional exclusives in gift eggs (Mime Jr, Relicanth if it’s in eggs, and so forth), and I bet a lot of others feel the same way.
That sure would help with hitting some milestones for finishing Level 49 this month. I’ll get the XP, but the lucky trade situation is bleak.
