Welwitschia mirabilis is a very peculiar desert plant from Namibia and Angola. They live extraordinarily long, up to 2000 years, and throughout their whole life they continuously grow a pair of leaves. So to evoke the themes of time passage and age on the historical scale I used the leaves as a sort of an ancient scroll, where patterns on the leaves form a semblance of a text. And while Orbonian esoterics and mystics try to interpret the markings on the leaves as some sort of ancient text, scientific research didn't reveal any hidden meaning to them.
