Humanoid Sprite Pokémon are fascinating creatures, they resemble humans but are not closely related to us nor to Primate Pokémon in general. Many however point to their anatomy and incredibly developed intelligence as characters that could be traced back to a common ancestor between humans and Humanoid Sprites Pokémon.
The current understanding is that these Pokémon recently differentiated from the Sprite Pokémon group, which includes species such as Wigglytuff (Jygglypum balloonis) and Togekiss (Togeticus jubileis), and that any similarity with humans is due to convergent evolution.
Currently, the Humanoid Sprite Pokémon tree is divided into two large subgroups: the Psychic Humanoids and the Fighting Humanoids, because the two groups have a prevalence of either one or the other Type expressed in their phenotype (although there are exceptions).
The Psychic Humanoids group especially shows several examples of Human-like intelligence, some authors have even described human-like language in some species, in other extreme cases there have been some signs of what can only be described as clairvoyance, however this is based on circumstantial evidence and is considered a preposterous claim by most.
New fossilized material from Southern Kalos reveals a new species of Psychic Humanoid Pokémon. Studies on the cranium suggests that the newly described Shamagis (Shaminus tribens) could be very intelligent, certainly having similar levels of intelligence to Gardevoir (Raltsium embracius) or Gothitelle (Gothitus astralibodis). The possibility of such a high level of intelligence spawned several hypothesis, such as the possibility that this species could have complex pack behaviors that even influence their ontological evolution. For example in Gardevoir, only the strongest male Kirlia evolves into a Gallade becoming the alpha male of the pack. Shamagis could have a similar pack structure, or at least something as complex.
Apparently the species also had a small orb in their chest which helped to focus their psychic energy, a character found in many Pokémon with psychic powers.
