ah, the irony of them showing up together…

i would love for the whole pokeinvesting sub to disappear (downvote me if you dare scalpers you know who you are)

I mean, everyone can win here

    Print cards

Scalpers go mental and hoover up stock to resell

    Company makes tons of profit

Collectors with stupid money can buy from the scalpers

Make reprints, devalue the current market, prices drop and the average player can now buy packs/cards for collection/play

This way, people make money and hobbyists/collectors get the cards they want without the price tag.

    Simple

  4. Everyone should just buy singles and leave scalpers die with their stock, but we all know people are addicted to opening boosters, not to the collecting part itself.

Tbh if you really want to play the game, you can still build very good decks with low cost cards. None of the expensive cards are actually very playable (or they have non rare versions that are worthless).

  6. I dunno man I was able to get by as a kid with just boosters and not a whole box

  7. Yea with drops at noon on a Friday I’m sure they’re targeting kids …..

  8. Stage_Party

I hate that poke vesting sub the scalpers on there all acting like they are “investing” or some such nonsense. The sub is full of these arrogant pricks.

People need to stop buying from scalpers. If you don’t get a box immediately just wait, eventually the scalpers stop buying them all up if they can’t sell any.

Bit of a controversial take. Yet it isn’t hard at all to get pokemon cards.

It might be tough to get product at times (Though here in Europe I regularly see pokemon boxes again in stores) yet even then you can buy singles so easily.

Parents could literally buy their kids 4000 bulk cards and cheap EXes for 50 dollars. If this sub would give that more often as advice instead of acting like pokemon packs are the life essence which makes the world go around, I think it’d be a lot healthier.

Well, hopefully the investors with their cases upon cases of DR will not be able to sell their boxes because there will absolutely not be any nostalgia at all for this set. Kids these days are not interested in Team Rocket or Jesse and James, or specifically Destined Rivals, or even pokemon at all thanks to the situation were ik right now. Kyra on youtube made a great video about this. I hope this is the case, I really do.

  11. Rek_Sai_Only

The post with the woman sitting on a throne of sealed in that sub was the absolute worst I’ve seen so far lmao

  12. Juniperlightningbug

That post where the dad complained about his son not being able to play was a little off though, pokemon has never been cheaper to play than right now. The playing experience is 3-10x cheaper to play meta decks than its counterparts like mtg, yugioh and op. Not to mention battle decks are very easy to find at msrp and need very little upgrading to get into the format

Pre 2020 you would be able to pick up a booster box for a set 3 sets ago for £120 at the most, now you have this. I would guess only 60% of packs are being opened these days, 40% are being stored for ‘investments’ its a sad state.

  14. It’s not because of your kid actually wanted to play the game you can just buy the cards which are super cheap. I understand product isn’t really available but that’s what you’re most excited for? The gambling aspect of the card game?

  15. Poke investors are just scalpers trying to have better PR

  16. YungHayzeus

Investing in a card game is probably the goofiest thing of modern times. Folks there posting their “portfolio” like it’s a Schwab account acting like they can liquidate it at that value in 15mins.

  17. bforce1313

Some of these comments are making me lose even more faith in humanity, my lord wtf are we doing….

  18. WorstUsernameHere

Pokemon NEEDS to do what MTG did and split the products into different groups. Imagine if pokemon had “collector boxes” like magic. The scalpers and players can finally get what they want

  19. suhhdude45

Yeah, a lot of people are only into this for the money. It’s annoying and it really bums me out that I’m so burnt out from the hobby because of this. Went to a card shop by my house yesterday and their cheapest ETB was $75 and it was Twilight Masquerade. Black Bolt ETB was $92. Get that shit out of here.

  20. The “game” is fine. For those of us that play the card game, playable cards are cheap and you can build pretty much every top tier deck for under $100, something that isn’t true about pretty much any other collectible card game. So if you’re feeling frustrated as a collector, I recommend throwing a deck together and checking out your local league. It’s a great way to remember the fun in this hobby!

I was an autistic kid and my family couldn’t afford pokemon now I’m an autistic adult and I can’t find pokemon

  22. BeerMagic

Just stop buying their shit. The problem will crumble in a monrh when bills come due and they haven’t sold anything.

  23. IamrichardL

Why is the child always autistic on these posts?
