I know this isn't exactly a new concept, but I love dinosaurs and wanted to try my hand at a prehistoric region. My region takes place in the region of soseku, deriving from the japanese words ancestor and precursor, reflecting the primal nature of the region and the early origins. In th8s game when you are first starting out, the professor asks you to help him with a new generator that harnesses the energy from a mineral found deep under soseku. Unfortunately, the machine malfunctions and releases ancient energy that travels the entire region. This causes the entire vicinity to revert to the past. This solves the problem of no towns in the gaame, ax the towns leapt back in time as well as people. Even pokemon from the originalregion are brought back. If you are wondering, the mineral that caused this explosion of ancient energy is a primal orb, similar to the blue and red orbs from sapphire and ruby that allowed Groudon and kyogre to transform into their primal versions. The reason that these pokemon were able to attain these forms, in my games lore, is because Groudon, kyogre and rayquaza were once one pokemon: the primal pokemon (working on a name and a reason why it split into three) that created the primal orbs. These orbs allow the corresponding pokemon to attain primal reversion just like groudon and kyogre, significantly boosting their stats and granting a new move to the primal pokemon. So yeah that's my region's history and gimmick form, but it will also introduce new past paradox pokemon and fossil pokemon in the wild. I would love to hear suggestions for past paradox forms you would like to see. Now I will talk about the starters. with the machine destroyed, it will take forever for the professor to rebuild the machine, possibly decades. The professor tells you to explore the region and try to find a method back, possibly with another energy blast of the same signature as the previous. To get you started on your journey, the professor hands you 20 pokeballs and you go to route one. There, at the very beginning, you encounter three Pokémon. The fire triceratops starter, the water spinosaurus starter, and the grass therizinosaurus starter. The only one I have made a rough draft of is the spinosaurus. they are all based on the four horsemen of death: the spinosaurus is based off of war and conquest because of its territorial disputes and its other inspirations. the triceratops is based off of famine, lighting everything in its vicinity in flames, thus starving it of nutrition. the therizinosaurus is based off of death, representing how some branches in evolution die. All of these Pokémon are also all based on different interpretations of evolution. The triceratops is based off of the evolution of maturity, or pokemons interpretation of evolution and grows a new horn for each evolution. the therizinosaurus is based off of natural evolution, or the definition of evolution, as it starts off as a raptor-like Pokémon and slowly turns into a therizinosaurus, which ties in well to its inspiration of the death horsemen showing that this evolutionary line hs died out as some tend to do. The spinosaurus meanwhile is based off of scientific evolution, or the evolution of public perception where it starts off as a Pokémon similar to an earlier depiction of spinosaurus, then changes into a more modern depiction. They also share the similarity of being based on a deity in the region where they lived and were first found by paleontologists. Spinosaurus is based off of the god of war sobek that happened to be a crocodile. Quite similar to a spinosaurus, wouldn’t you say? Especially my Pokémon that controls the waterways and fights with other families for fishing space, truly ebodying the god of war and conquest. The next is therizinosaurus that is based off of the Mongolian deity Etugen eke, god of nature and benevolent, known for her control and love of nature, as well as being the god of fertility. Her mood changes the plant life around her and she was forever a virgin. All of these traits are reflected in this Pokémon, and it is unable to make eggs in nurseries once it hits its final evolution. The triceratops is based on the American First Nations deity, the wendigo, known for its ravenous and insatiable appetite and its connection to famine. It also grants the dark type to triceratops. Those are the starters, and if you want to see a more in depth explanatIon and some drawings too, just say the word. So yeah that’s all I have for my new region. I would love to see some constructive criticism and suggestions for more features etc. thanks for reading about my region!
