Pokemon Trading Card Game

This guy is being sued by all the named rip and shippers and i want to know if it is true before i stop stop watching their content.

I apologize if this isn't allowed but i read the rules and it said videos can be uploaded. I just want to know if this is true or rage bait before i stop watching some content creators. 3$ a pack and selling for 12 is worse than scalpers or makes all of them scalpers. i 100% understand businesses have overhead and shipped and other stuff but them getting to rip unlimited packs for cheap while we suffer as a community seems so unfair.

His videos keep getting banned or taken down and all this drama started before i woke up this morning.

You have to understand “scalping” is a trend rn always has been but super hot now, supply and demand long story short. Everyone knows these packs are fresh so why would it be selling that high? Same reason a lot of cards are being pumped, “we set the tone cause we can” and the same product gets passed around in circles upping the price every lap.

    (Just yapping)

  2. Jaymigz22

Scumbags. My lgs is a shaws vending machine. I won’t shop at my actual lgs until they fix their prices. Fuck scalpers good work and good luck dude

  3. TheShinyHunter3

Regardless of if they get their packs for 3$ or not, rip and shippers were never worth watching, bunch of randos being paid by other randos to open packs for the later rando’s collection. Plus there’s been so many scandals coming out of these guys I wonder why people even give them watch time.

  4. QuintsHat1975

Rip and shippers and many LCS are price gouging?! Color me shocked.

  5. This is absolutely true. I can confirm myself because I know owners of LGS. They get product from distro at a much lower price than what they sell at. I get the “market” but to make 100% plus profit is bullshit. Anyone buying from rip and ships are down fucking bad. Don’t rip unless you can catch a restock at msrp. Packs are supposed to be 4.49.

The only reason I occasionally buy packs over singles is to enjoy the feeling of opening it myself. Having someone else open it kind of defeats the purpose in my eyes, much less paying twice what the pack should be worth. Of course, the people who buy are probably gambling addicts who have to get their fix in when they can’t find anything on the shelves.

  7. rickymcrichardson

It sounds about right numbers wise. If they have a distro and hangers retail at $4.50-$6 than the $3.75 he mentions is about right.

  8. purple_cheetos

Will never understand how people enjoy watching strangers online open packs.

  9. DefNotAShark

You cannot sell Pokémon online at or near MSRP without bots swarming it. This is not just for major retailers. I’m in a small LCS discord and the owner tried to put up booster boxes for us. As soon as he did, bots swarmed the listing. He cancelled all the orders and tried to put a password, and discord bot accounts started flooding into the discord. It was insane.

So it stands to reason that these online sellers can either watch bots make a profit or make a profit themselves and it seems like these ones chose the latter. Either way the product was never going to reach us at low prices so it’s hard to summon a fuck to give.

  10. Rip and ship is a notorious scam space filled with resealers.

If you buy from them, you deserve to lose your money.

  11. alex-andrite

Someone from my high school claims they’ve grossed $1M+ this year (since January) doing rip and ship. He’s opening his own card shop now. I don’t know him well enough to ask details but that’s what I’ve heard

  12. Element720

Even the lgs by my house is selling boosters for $500 going to pass on this set it looks like.

  13. soulless_dragon

    1) I dont know about them getting them at like $3.99 a pack, you’d have to find out their distribution stores prices to really know.
    2) If they dont get them froma distribution store, they are probably getting them from Walmart, GameStop, Target etc. Which would make them scalpers (Though i all technicality getting them from a distro center is still them getting product from another ‘store that sells pokemon’, its just semantics)
    3) Not all of them charge 12.99, some do 8.99, 9.99,10.99, 6.99 etc.

You have to decide for yourself where your line is at at stick to it. Thats really all any of us can do besides just no longer buying Pokémon

  14. LegoRedBrick

Not to pile on here but a big part of our entire economy is scalping. Ever bought a car? It’s not sold by the manufacturer. Guys just fill an empty lot with cars and charge whatever they want and people pay it. Pokémon cards no different. Guys are buying up cards and re-selling them at LGS’s, online, for more. Middle men are everywhere in the economy. It sucks but it isn’t unique to Pokémon.

  15. Local-Trainer3454

There’s a local card shop that I go that charges 7 dollars per pack sales tax already included I live in New York this was like finding the holly grail

  16. pipesandpistols

I honestly believe that if a business buys the product direct from the distributor, they should sell for SRP. If scalpers find product that they buy at retail price, I believe they should be allowed to set a market driven price. I believe the authorized direct from distributor sellers should be the bastion of fair pricing. LGS should set limits to discourage scalpers. Just my two cents.

  17. Especially for Japanese packs. The regular one is only 180 yen , but I have seen ppl paid over $20 US dollars for 3 packs. It’s ridiculous.

  18. TheJudgingHat2222

Before you stop watching what content? Rip and ship? Why the fuck are you watching that?

  19. Eillusion

Watch content in 2022-2023? Those guys are now all insanely rich. Hobby is ruined.

  20. Belerophon17

A card shop opened up literally about 100 feet away from my work. I’m not spending a dime until they fix their prices. If I have to go without for a while then so be it.

  21. stop watching rip n shippers anyways theyre mostly scammers lol

  22. BIG_STEVE5111

Whoevers paying upwards of $10 a pack needs to give their head a wobble.

  23. Store owner here.

We pay about $3.56 per pack on launch. Allocations are what dictate what we do.

If I can buy a 3 month supply at that cost, then I am charging MSRP. Why? Because I have enough product to stretch to the next release. More on this in a moment.

The problem is that right now, allocations are small. For me, I can only buy about 1 weekends worth of product. Which means I need to be checking each of my distributors, twice a day and emailing them constantly.

This persistent behavior will get me a bit more product. The problem is, that that product is generally above MSRP through distribution, when I go back to the well for more.

Because the price increase is inevitable, I now have to mark my initial product up. For example I bought boxes of Mega at $99.80 per box on release, sold out, was offered more at $280 per box. If I had sold those original boxes at MSRP and based it on my original cost – restocking the box would leave me at a $120 loss.

Obviously, that isn’t sustainable. So the product is marked up to market to ensure profitability on box #1 and that I can cover the cost of box #2.

Some stores have solid allocations, and they can buy a 30 or 90 day supply. So they don’t need to go back to buy more. This is why they can sell it at MSRP. But increasingly so, more and more stores are seeing allocations go down, set after set.

  24. PaldeanTeacher

Yes it is absolutely true. I have a distribution connect through my buddy who owns a LCS. Packs are absolutely leas than $3 when purchased through distro upon release and yes the prices are the same for everyone as far as I know.

  25. peepee034839329

Are those “sold numbers” real? I thought they are just put their to entice customers of normality

  26. Critical_Repair_792

My lcs charges more than the scalpers 😂😂

  27. It’s so odd to me that SO many people defend these guys. “ I know what I’m buying”.. brother that’s an addiction.

  28. MarkGaboda

Sams.club sales pokemon. They also sale jewelry. Desinger jewelry has an average markup of 400-500%, is sams club a jewerly scalper or even lower than a jewerly scalper??

  29. Of course, it’s a combination of good wholesale connections and the supply and demand. Guess what, if no one bought those packs they would drop the price. Blame the end consumer just as much as the seller.

  30. RepresentativeWait45

Guy is full of it. Release prices for tcgs is not the same all across the board, as it depends in large part on your distro, how much you buy, how long you’ve been a customer, and what other products you pick up from them. However, I’m 100% sure that rip n shippers are making bank on this though, even if it’s not $3 per pack. The more accurate representation would be rip n shippers buying in bulk from eBay and faceboook marketplace at $6 per pack and selling at $12

  31. GodzillasBoner

All rip and shippers, as well as the people that support them should be sued

  32. Creeperhugger67890

It’s not every rip and shipper that’s suing him, its just the one known as TBellsCardHouse, it was also TBells community who had TCG_Trues account banned. Which is going to get TBell sued for encouraging it

  33. ZanesFUNNY

Im glad he spoke up about the prices, no one said that price has to be kept a secret. They’re just mad because now they can’t freely take advantage of jerks price gouging. He’s 100% right that they don’t care about you, just care about making money. We need a balance! Anyone selling way over MSRP shouldn’t receive sales at all unless it’s a much older set (which would then make sense given the age and scarcity.)
