Hey guys! This happened super recently!
Basically, for the past 2-3 years, I've been on the hunt for a plush (or any merch really) of my favorite pokemon ever: Gabite.
I've visited various stores and fan conventions for years with no luck. Not to mention, out of the three evolution forms (Gible, Gabite, Garchomp), Gabite seems to be the least popular, making them even harder to find.
Fast forward, on social media, I saw that my friend was currently visiting Japan! What better place to try to find Gabite merch than from the place Pokemon originated from?
They asked me if I wanted anything while I was there, and I told them to let me know if they happened to spot Gabite merch. I provided them with a picture (the same pic above) and they said they would be on the lookout.
Today, they came back and updated me with a picture. I was so excited, but it took a few minutes to notice that Gabite was looking… More like a Garchomp!
After comparing the pictures, yep, they accidentally got me Garchomp instead. 🙁
I'm so thankful for my friend, especially since they put effort and time into looking around for me. I also feel that this could've been prevented if I had shown them the full evolution line and specified (because Gabite and Garchomp do look similar).
For sure, I will take and pay for the Garchomp plushie! I just don't know if I should reveal that they had accidentally gotten me the wrong Pokemon… I don't want it to be awkward or for them to feel like their work had been for nothing.
Should I pretend they had gotten me the right plush? Or be truthful about it? 🥹
