Faketober 2025 DAY 2 Spiky

🌑🐇 Bunorb — the Nocturnal Sphere Pokémon

Type: Dark
Height: 0.3 m (1’0”)
Weight: 2.4 kg (5.3 lbs)

Appearance:

Bunorb has a small, perfectly rounded body covered in soft, short purple fur that subtly shifts in hue under moonlight. Its face is defined by a dark black mask that covers the front half of its head, contrasting sharply with its vivid orange, luminescent eyes that seem to glow in the dark. The eyes are large and round, giving it a perpetually startled expression.
It has tiny ear-bumps—not full ears yet, but small rounded nubs that twitch when it senses sound—and a minuscule, triangle-shaped nose. Though it lacks visible limbs, the round base of its body flattens slightly when it “bounces” along the ground, using muscle contractions within its spherical frame to move.

Personality and Behavior:

Bunorb is a timid nocturnal Pokémon that hides in burrows during the day. At dusk, it emerges to feed on berries and roots, often mistaken for a glowing ball of light in fields or forest edges. Because of its eerie glow and silent movements, travelers once believed it was a lost spirit leading them astray.
Despite its spooky appearance, Bunorb is gentle and easily startled, rolling away in panic when threatened.

Pokédex Entry:

“Long ago, people feared Bunorb as a wandering ghost light. When its evolution began, strange spines would sprout from its fur, giving rise to tales of cursed rabbits and the jackalope myth.”

☠️🐇 Cryptalop — the Thorned Jack Pokémon

Type: Dark/Poison
Height: 1.3 m (4’3”)
Weight: 38.2 kg (84.2 lbs)

Appearance:

Cryptalop’s body has bulked up dramatically from its previous form, resembling a mix between a muscular hare and a rugged cryptid beast. Its fur has deepened into a darker, bruised shade of purple, with black patches and streaks that form natural camouflaging patterns.
Its face remains masked in black, with the same piercing orange eyes, now narrowed into a fierce, confident glare.
Its once-tiny ear-bumps have grown into long, ragged ears with torn edges and visible notches. From its head and shoulders sprout uneven, jagged keratin spines, irregular and sharp, resembling crude antlers or hardened parasitic growths. These protrusions are asymmetrical — one may curve backward while another juts outward like a broken branch. Additional smaller spikes line its arms and spine, giving it a silhouette that looks both defensive and feral.
Cryptalop’s limbs are thick and powerful, ending in clawed paws capable of both burrowing and striking with immense force.

Personality and Behavior:

Cryptalop is territorial and defensive rather than outright aggressive. It uses its spines as both a shield and a weapon, intimidating foes with displays of toxic secretion that drips from the tips of its hardened growths.
The parasite that lives within its body strengthens it, granting great endurance and resistance to toxins, but it causes it discomfort, leading to unpredictable behavior.
In legends, sightings of Cryptalop at night inspired the myth of the jackalope, as frightened witnesses described “horned rabbits” seen darting through the dark.

Pokédex Entry:

“The horns on Cryptalop’s head are actually hardened spines formed by a symbiotic parasite. When struck, they ooze a faint toxin that burns skin on contact. Tales of the jackalope originated from sightings of this elusive Pokémon.”

“It defends its burrow with sudden lunges and headbutts. The strange growths on its body release a chemical odor that wards off predators and rival Cryptalop alike.”

Abilities
• Poison Touch – May poison targets on contact.
• Rough Skin – Inflicts slight damage on attackers that use contact moves.
• Hidden Ability: Parasitic Armor – When hit by a contact move, the attacker either takes damage or has its Attack stat lowered by one stage (50% chance of either effect).
