this really bothers me

anyway, why does gamefreak make these games as if actual children are the only people playing them. we all know that a pokemon trainer is, we all know what a pokemon battle is, and we all know how to catch pokemon. why does gamefreak feel the need to include a stupid tutorials in EVERY GAME?! ITS BEEN ALMOST 40 YEARS WE ALREADY KNOW THIS STUFF. it just feels like they think were stupid or something.

Every Pokemon game is somebody’s first Pokemon game

Hey buddy, slown down on that “almost 40 years”. We won’t cross the 30th anniversary until next year.

I definitely think there should be an option for “hey I’ve played Pokemon before” to cut down on the tutorial

I mean Pokemon was my first RPG when I was around the age of 6 or 7. Even at that young age I was able to eventually beat the game with minimal hand-holding.

Tutorials are good to have but there’s no excuse for that tutorial to last a couple of hours. At the least, there should be an option to skip some of the intro like most other modern-day JRPGs. This is Nintendo though so we’ll be lucky to see this implemented in the next decade I guess.

“why does gamefreak make these games as if actual children are the only people playing them”

    Because that’s their target audience?

  6. “It’s almost been 40 years” slow down champ, it’s 30 this year.

As someone who absolutely HATES all of the tutorials, it is a children’s game at the end of the day and is someone’s first pokemon game most likely. SV was my first game since Ruby/Sapphire and I would have been lost had there not been tutorials.

I think it would be nice to have the option of “I know what I’m doing” and skip some of the tutorials screens, but getting rid of them completely would isolate first timers and kids and set them up to not enjoy the game as much

  8. Basically, every game is someone’s first pokemon game. They feel the need to make this very idiot proof to indoctrinate them into the series. As much as I’m sure the real fans are in their 20s and 30s, gamefreak doesn’t care. They want to keep the ball rolling to get even more fans who don’t know any better. It’s their target audience at the end of the day

The kids excuse runs so dry when you consider the hardest games of the series were also made for kids and were also some peoples first Pokemon games. Both my kids played for like 10 hours, got bored and went back to my copies of platinum and Black 2.

  10. pokemon would not be nearly as liked if the games were just like no tutorial figure it out on your own. you have to remember each game will be someones first so they need a tutorial so that new players arent left in the dust because the creators just assume everyone has played pokemon before

If they released these once every 5-10 years I’d get it, but we got this game last year and the year before that
