I used to open packs but it was too "gamble-ey" for me, so I started collecting singles. But I had too many. And they lost their individuality/personal value because I had so many, resulting in me selling the collection. But I still love Pokemon cards and especially the vintage ones with this beautiful foil pattern and swirls. Not sure how to display them though.
