Floranha and Biriranha

Inspired by a spider that I found in my fruit.

I was picking ripe biribá fruits from my tree this morning when I saw that one of them was infested by bugs and worms. What I didn't expect to see were two unusual spiders. I was like “I've never seen that one before” so I took out my pokedex (Google lens) to see what type of spiders they were. Google says they were crab spiders. First thing that came to mind was to create a pokémon based on them. Besides, I'd been wanting to create one based on my biribá, but that tree's so special that I didn't want to create just another plant with a face. I guessed it was the prefect time.

Crab spiders dwell in plants to catch bugs, and some species even blend perfectly with the flower they stand on. So I wanted this pokémon to be a mimic, disguising as a fruit (a new type of berry in the pokémon world).

Biribá (rollinia) is a fruit native to Brazil, so I wanted to give this pokémon that Brazilian vibe and even name. I threw some Carmen Miranda element and made its biribá abdomen look like a fruit headress.

I kind of wish the pre-evolved form was a flower to reference the flower-dwelling crab spiders, but biribá flowers aren't the flashiest.

I'm not from Brazil by the way, and where I'm from, biribá is not a widely known fruit. In fact, I have never seen such fruit or tree anywhere else. It's a shame because I really love this fruit.
