How Donuts work in the DLC

The trailer basically reveals how this whole Hyperspace Lumiose (HL) thing will work. Instead of talking about the whole gameplay loop, I want to talk about donuts because these things seem to be what make or break your success.

  • As you know, Lvl caps are increased in HL. The trailer shows that exploring these 'Hyperspace Wild Zones' will have varying levels and Pokemon spawns (usually type specific).
  • Donuts are consumed before entering the Hyperspace Wild Zone and grants you a level boost and calories.
  • Donuts are made using standard or hyperspace variants of berries with the new DLC character Ansha. All donuts are named with a specific berry and a flavor (Oran Chocolate and Tamato Curry for example). Donuts have three properties we know of so far:
    • Level Boost: How many levels gained (temporary until exploration is complete, presumably).
    • Donut Energy: measured in calories, it is a timer of how long you have to explore the specific Wild Zone
    • Flavor Score: indicated from 1-5 stars, it takes into account 5 berry flavor profiles and gives a total score. From Ansha's dialogue text: "The higher the Flavor Score a donut has, the stronger its effects will be!"
  • Berries all have specific flavor profiles, level boosts, and calories. Hyperspace variants provide much more drastic boosts. Example: Grepa vs Hyper Grepa berries –
    • Grepa Berry: +10 each in Sweet/Sour/Fresh, +2 Lv, +65 calories
    • Hyper Grepa Berry: +60 spicy, +25 sour, +5 fresh, +8 Lv, +140 calories
    • On 1:34 of the trailer, you can see that there is a multiplier on the level boost & donut energy. Whether this is because of the flavor score or because it was a hyper grepa berry is unclear to me.

Tl;dr: Donuts are made with berries and grant you level boosts and a timer to explore Hyperspace. Flavor synergies along with berry types will create more effective donuts with higher values.

Sidenote, a cheri curry donut is absolutely diabolical
