Geography
Sakarvela is divided into 5 major zones:
- Kartma Highlands
Based on: Caucasus Mountains, Svaneti, Kazbegi
A cold alpine area with stone towers, avalanche paths, and ancient fortresses.
• Home to Ice-, Rock-, Steel-, and Dragon-type Pokémon
• Legendary Pokémon tied to the mountains live here
• Final gym located in an ancient cliff monastery
- Vele Valley
Based on: Kakheti (wine country), Imereti farmland
Rolling vineyards, wide fields, orchards, and rustic villages.
• Grass-, Ground-, Normal-, Bug-type Pokémon
• Starter Route is here
• Graphron’s line is native to this region
• Many Pokémon resemble wine grapes, wheat, goats, shepherd dogs, and farm tools
- Tbilisar Capital District
Based on: Tbilisi
A bustling, modern city built around sulfur bath canyons and old districts.
• Electric-, Fire-, Water-, and Steel-types
• Region’s battle tower equivalent—The Royal Arena
• Mix of medieval and futuristic architecture
- Adzur Coast
Based on: Batumi & the Black Sea
A subtropical zone with beaches, rainforests, and seaside cliffs.
• Water-, Flying-, Grass-, and Fairy-types
• A gym inside a botanical garden modeled after Batumi’s
• Tropical fruit Pokémon appear here
- Javakh Sands
Based on: Vardzia caves & southern volcanic plateaus
Dry, rocky, tunnel-filled landscapes, dotted with cave monasteries.
• Fire-, Rock-, Ghost-, Ground-types
• Region’s “ruins area,” where ancient relic Pokémon live
• Mythical Pokémon shrine is hidden deep in a carved cliff city
CULTURE & LORE
The Tamari Kings
Ancient rulers who were said to command nature spirits.
The Three Iron Scripts
Based on: Asomtavruli, Nuskhuri, Mkhedruli
Three ancient scripts act like runes scattered across the region.
Collecting them unlocks a legendary Pokémon related to knowledge and writing.
The Rusted Curse
Central myth based on Georgian ghost folklore:
Cursed objects that lock away restless souls… tying back to your Pokémon Corrodead / Corrodoom / Padlich lines.
They canonically appear in the Javakh Sands and old monasteries.

Evolution: Evolves from Graphron at Level 17
Pokédex Entry:
Vineon patrols old ruins and vineyard terraces. Its vine-mane hardens into a stone-like shell, protecting sacred lands. When angered, it stomps the ground, causing roots beneath the soil to burst upward like spears.

TAMARLION

Design Idea:
Regal, large lion
Mane is a mix of vines and grape leaves shaped like a crown
Pokédex Entry:
Tamarlion is revered as a symbol of leadership. Legends say its roar could make entire vineyards bloom overnight. The “crown” of vines on its mane never wilts; grapes from it were once used in sacred rituals.

A bulky, powerful Grass/Rock monarch.

Wow, I came into this post to comment about how freakin much I loved the design of the starter and then I find all this amazing, intriguing and really just well-thought out lore and I’m completely hooked!
I mean at this point it’s kinda easy to do a million times better than gamefreak but you’re really blowing it out of the park.
I’m looking forward to seeing the other starters!
