Story time!
While the mission was to catch my shiny mew in Japan or some other foreign country, shiny Mew, that had been sitting on my stacked research starting glitching my new research. I couldn’t do some of the random encounter rewards so that meant one thing.. I had to catch my Mew. It was sitting in my stacked research for about four years but the time had came. The GO Wild event was the perfect time to do it. From Phoenix, Arizona, to San Diego, it was a much needed break from life to just be by myself and play a game I enjoy.
Shiny Mew was the main mission but I also had another perfectly timed milestone… my 50,000th catch. I knew this was coming up so I grinded for weeks before hand to catch about 5,000 Pokemon to lineup with my trip so I could focus on the event but also make Mew my 50,000th. I drove to Coronado island, ate breakfast like a king, then walked to Coronado Ferry Landing Pier and caught it. It felt amazing. Such a big milestone in game, and just life in general. Breaking out of my comfort zone and just pulling to trigger on a long drive to catch digital monsters. It was very on par for me.
There was many other great catches during my 35 mile walk around San Diego but the main missions have been complete.
A side mission… Las America’s Mall. A 25 minute drive from my AirBNB. Why? The possibility to catch Hawlucha! Right at the border of Mexico I read that there’s a possibility for it spawn in the mall being so close the border and the rumors rang true. Unfortunately I only found one but one is all I needed for the dex entry. It felt so unreal to catch another regional and not have one traded to me. I caught it myself.
