TLDR: I highly recommend against buying from bonecollectr0220 on ebay
I went through the bane of every Pokemon collector's existence today when I won an auction for a rare card only to have my order cancelled by the seller. 🙃 I figured I could get a decent deal ordering from a lesser known seller on a card I've been looking for for quite some time (90's kid just getting around to finishing my vintage promos). So I bid this morning and actually won! Only it turns out, the seller apparently received a message from a separate bidder claiming that their last second bid didn't go through correctly…
I reached out to the seller (shown in the attached DM pictures) to find out what had happened, and for some wild reason, the seller openly admitted to cancelling my order so that they could sell the item I WON to another buyer with a higher offer instead! The seller claims to wanted to give the other buyer the benefit of the doubt in that ebay's bidding system errored out, but that shouldn't be up to the seller since ebay's auction system ultimately determines the winner, does it not? Since I purchased the card fairly by winning the auction and then immediately submitted my payment for said item, I don't see how this seller can perform the mental gymnastics required to come to this conclusion. Other than wanting roughly $40 extra I guess haha.
It just blew my mind some of the things this seller openly admitted to. Regardless of the reasoning, this seller did willfully cancel my order with false claims of the item being "Out of stock or damaged" since that was their ONLY cancellation option (go figure); I think it's hilarious that they don't see the issue in that alone. They also mention that they would have reached out to me prior (?) if they had realized it would have been a big issue. I can't even begin to comprehend this statement honestly. They even claim to "always" sell their items even when they go below market, which you know, great! Except you didn't do that here!
Probably my favorite part of this whole exchange is that apparently me not receiving the item I won an auction for means that I didn't want it enough to use "Buy it Now" instead, what an absolutely insane take.
Anyway, this is more of a rant than anything, but I would strongly caution against working with bonecollectr0220 on ebay given this horrific experience. Definitely one of the worst I've come across, and certainly not one I'll ever go back to! Back to the hunt for Prerelease Clefable T.T
