Meet Bochonoko! Bochonoko is the second-stage evolution of my fanmade Pokemon based on Bocchi, a character from the Anime titled Bocchi the Rock!
Context: Bocchi the Rock is an anime based around a highschool band. Our protagonist is a pink haired girl named Hitori Gotoh, who is given the nickname "Bocchi" later on from her fellow band members. Bocchi is portrayed as an extremely introverted, socially anxious highschool girl.
Design Inspiration: Bochonoko is based on a piece of merchandise by the name of Bocchinoko and it is also based on snails!
Shiny Inspiration: Having left its comfort zone, the purple color of Bochonoko's shiny has become a lighter tone since it has started to open up to more people and other Pokemon!
Behavior: It is said that when a Bocho finally builds up the courage to approach another trainer or Pokemon, it emits a short, musical tune that is pleasant to hear and evolves shortly after. Once evolved into Bochonoko, it holds a tiny guitar and is inside a box. It likes to play its guitar for people, but it is rare to actually see this happen. It is believed it is inside a box because it finds comfort in the box, knowing that it can hide if frightened or judged. As an excuse to always be inside the box, it has tried to make it look like a snail shell and tries to convince people that it is a snail.
Final thoughts: I like where this design went. I wanted to try and not make it a direct copy and paste to what it was based on like the first stage, so I had the idea of giving it a box that it uses as a shell to hide in if frightened or judged. Please feel free to give me any feedback! I also plan to make Fakemon lines based on the other 3 band members 🙂
