Back Out and Revive your Mega Evolved Pokemon!!!

Just lost a super mega raid (and remote raid pass and I assume the 200 link charges) because even though we had 12 people with mega evolved pokemon, once their mega got knocked out they either didn’t revive it or backed out. Dragonite snuffed my Rayquaza twice as soon as it came onto the field but on my third revive I got a shield knocked off. Incredibly frustrating to see the last 90 seconds of this raid sit at 1 shield because people don’t understand the mechanics.

As I now understand the situation, this thread should be stickied for the entire weekend.

  2. Remarkable_Ad2032

They should just allowed us to relobby and break more shields after.

I wouldn’t really mind relobbying Rayquaza 10 times if it meant breaking everything by myself

  3. Shadow_84

Looks like some may have bailed as it’s says 8 people

  4. candacallais

The shield mechanic is ill-conceived here. They should’ve kept the enrage mechanic and just required more gems to end it. Maybe 12 instead of 8.

Shields should solely be a function of PVP and team rocket battles.

Healing in the relobby screen is problematic because the boss gets some HP back if no one is in the battling screen (due to everyone relobbying). If they fix that maybe shields are fine, if people can break multiple.

  5. Alive_Task8992

Oh man if those raids have 8 shields imagine how many shields their gonna give to mega mewtwo. My guess is 15, unless if they really wanna make us fight for it 20

  6. You lost your raid pass but you shouldn’t have lost your link charges – they’re supposed to be consumed when the raid completes.

  7. To be fair, I can see it being quite confusing for some casual to understand. I don’t know how the recommended party is set up since I haven’t done one yet still being Friday here, but you want someone to make sure to bring a mega, as well as having it ideally in slot #6 for the auto pull feels a lot to ask for someone who just jump into the lobby with whatever recommended normally.

I finally got to do a raid after four tries; had someone on my friend list trying to start one and the first few lobbies kept only having 7 or 8 people. One of them had 10, but the lobby also said “6 mega evolved pokemon in the lobby” (LOVE that it gives us that notification), so we ducked out of that one too.

Fourth attempt at a lobby we finally got ten people and a notice of 10 mega evolved pokemon in the lobby. Everyone had megas to send when the shields went up, and all the shields went down in a matter of seconds.

Point is; these raids are easy *if people actually prepare.*

Is it true that you don’t get the mega energy if you remote raid into a Mega Dragonite raid?

  10. Remember, don’t hate the player, hate the game. This is Niantic’s fault. These mechanics are dumb. They don’t understand the way so many people actually play and they really don’t understand what it’s like to play the game outside of San Francisco.

  11. CookieblobRs

Who would have thought that when you introduce content that requires ***pokemongo players to pay an ounce of attention; a majority will not do it.*** Just let the people who try their asses off for the lobby actually carry.

This would be easily fixed if mega pokemon can break more than 1 shield, this means least 4-5 people who are trying will actually be able to carry the people who aren’t doing anything.

  12. drumstix42

Something people won’t realize is that your mega pokemon will auto swap in when it’s shield-breaking time. So there’s no need to bring it in slot 1.

  13. RomanRoysSnorlax

If they’re going to require a mega evolved Pokemon to break shields then they should also require everyone to have mega before allowing them in the lobby and to confirm they have a mega in their party once they enter the lobby and then the shield mechanic should allow a fainted during the battle mega to be revived without needing to relobby. Stupid mechanic as is.

  14. Everyone should assume that mechanics that are not intuitive or explained in game, are not understood by many if not most of the players. The game should come with minimum requirements (x amount of players with megas in their parties) before the raid begins, otherwise don’t allow for the raid to take place at all. If the latter is also desired then they should be explaining the tactics better and in-game

  15. Snow_Set_02

They really should’ve made it have like a 60 sec cooldown before you could break shield again since if someone has a mon like Sableye that’ll be 1 shot immediately, it’ll at least give the team as a whole a chance.

  16. There really needs to be some large pop-up in the raid lobby screen for players without an active mega above 0 HP in their party. Many casual players just don’t pay enough attention to know that these raids are different than usual.

  17. LumpyInspector1016

This post just told me not to remote raid these. Dmax Ho-oh learned me real good.

  18. real_fyshi

Ideally once the shields are up and your mega is down the game should give you a notification/throw you into the lobby so you are directly nudged to revive it. I can see how if no clue about the mechanics you’d expect your (dead) mega just being in the team being enough to suffice, as it works like this with some things.

  19. To help on the logistic and casual players, they should just disband the lobby when the minimum mega mon does not meet, because what’s the point of allowing a 8 man lobby with only 7 mega mon to happen? The fainted in game and other factors is another story.

  20. _picture_me_rollin_

This did not work for the in person event

  21. RelationshipNo8728

Can’t even get into a raid for him people are hogging it up

  22. RefrigeratorFar2769

Are the shields active immediately or do they come in later like enragement

  23. duel_wielding_rouge

I lost way too many Super Mega Raids last weekend, even when we had well over 20 people in the raids.

  24. suspicious_Jackfruit

People need to stop complaining that people don’t get the mechanic and instead call it what it is – a yet again poorly implemented system by Niantic/scopely that is conveniently consuming raid passes en mass “accidentally”

  25. Glittering_Diet6613

Can you get energy from remotes the day before?

  26. OpportunityBig9513

Decided to give it a try. And failed…. 9 mega evolved mons out of 10 players. In battle 2 didn’t break the shield so three shields kept remaining. I just can’t get my head around why they implemented such a useless and stupid mechanic

  27. Substantial_Zone_713

Once the shield shows up.. what do we do? Do we switch in the mega? And how do we break the shield?

  28. Some_Entertainer6928

The Mega Pokemon needs to be the last slot in the party ideally because the Super Mega Pokemon normally wipes out your first slot or two.

If you didn’t break a shield, then you can revive your Mega and fight it again, however it’s one person’s one mega per one shield. Reviving your Mega after it’s taken down a shield won’t let you take down another.

A lot of players seemed unaware of how it function, went straight in with a Mega, had that Mega wiped out and thought they could just break the shield if they kept attacking with other things :L

  29. Ayejonny12

It’s just a dumb mechanic tbf, my Mega Ray was getting one shot half the time, but we finally managed to beat it on my first try.(Even got a shiny for it). I got greedy and wanted more energy & the second raid I did, I saw someone with his mega right at the beginning, I knew we were cooked. And lo and behold, watched the timer tick down with two shields remaining. I don’t see myself running too many of these anymore 😭

  30. RileyJONeil

This! People not bringing or knowing to revive their megs Pokemon. So many wasted raids.

  31. vampiremonkeykiller

Just lost 2 remote passes this way. Hopefully they’ll do some kind of reimbursement

  32. Throwaway246326437

Exact same experience, may have even been the same lobby.

Sat on 1 and pretty sure there was just one person refusing to bring a mega or do the needful, absolutely depressing as all hell as we got it with its shields up fast and down to 1 within a minute.

  33. Distinct_Wrongdoer86

when coming back in after reviving always put a decoy junk pokemon in slot 1 cause all the damage the raid boss is doing while your in menu reviving and healing will be instantly unloaded on your first pokemon

  34. I saw someone suggest you put your Mega as your 6th ‘mon. That way it probably won’t faint before the shield comes up, and it’ll automatically come up to fight when the shield does pop up.

  35. I’m hoping these new megas come to normal mega raids cause this shield mechanic just doesn’t feel great when you require eight people do something with a double weakness that would normally require 1-2 people at most.

  36. Urising89

Just don’t start with your mega. It autoselceted my mega Rayquaza (5th slot) when shields were up and my pokemon fainted

  37. Zestyclose_Cell_9834

How do you revive the mega pokemon? Mine fainted and I panicked but so no option to revive him

  38. call-me-the-seeker

Damn, either we were in the same raid (I made the mistake of trying PokeGenie) or this is happening a lot. Had my mega Charizard in sixth place, it deployed him at the proper time, Dragonite iced him before he could make his move but I had a hunch reviving and returning could work. So I did, and broke a shield. However I will say my entire party had to die before I could revive and rejoin, I could not back out before they were all fainted. We had enough megas even though one person in the group was asking to be carried bringing no mega. But too many people deployed them right out of the gate and we all died with no one to break the last shield. So really it DID come down to either that one loser who brought no mega, or to people who sent theirs out early in the fight boning it for us all.

DON’T LOSE EVERYONE THEIR PASS BEING THAT CLOWNLOAF. Keep the mega out of the first spots!

I don’t <think> we lost the link charges but the remote pass stings.

  39. RexicTheKing

Its friday the 27th here but I am getting remote raid invites to super mega raids. Would I get mega energy from those now if I joined?

  40. Trying to get Pokebattler updated for the weeend . It’s close but should help

  41. Financial_Side_2774

I’m so sad, I joined the queue for a Dragonite Raid right at 8:30 this morning and got placed at 800th. After 6 hours I finally get in, and then of course I don’t get an invite from the host so I have to rejoin the queue. And now I am 13,000th. I hate this stupid game so much.

  42. These raids are so stupid hahaha, genuinely more excited to raid Honedge for the shiny than bash my head against a wall trying to make these raids work with people likely not understanding how they work all weekend

  43. owen18oaj

THIS IS INSANE IVE LOST 3 REMOTE RAIDS BECAUSE WEVE HAD 1 OR 2 SHIELDS LEFT BECAUSE PPL DONT UNDERSTAND THIS

  44. I haven’t even seen a dragonite yet. No chance for rural people anyway.
Can you remote? Haven’t seen it appear on the normal apps I use.

  45. YesReboot

If you need ten people with megas, the raid shouldn’t even start unless there are ten people with megas

  46. Thats_Consent

i just did it with a 1800 diancie with 11 people. we were at 1 shield for a very long time lol but we won

  47. BeginningAd2974

Worst mechanic they’ve ever made. This entire event week has been trash money grabs at fomo crap, but these super mega raids really really suck eggs to the maximum.
