Pokemon Go

Biggest gripe with Kalos Tour Raids

I played the event from 12-6 with the goal of hitting the most relevant mega Pokemon (Garchomp, Gardevoir, Gallade, Lucario) and to my absolute disgust ALMOST EVERY RAID DURING ROTATION WAS A SUPER MEGA RAID. I will provide a photo of one of the rotations but it infuriated me that in a circle of 10-12 gyms, 8-9 of them were super mega raids. Because of the rotation forcing me to run across my entire town for raids I was unable to get enough garchomp energy, which is a really big bummer. I hope that tommorow they greatly reduce the spawn rate of these super mega raids because 1. No one wants to raid them and 2. The other mega pokemon are suppose to be the highlight. There is absolutely no need for gyms to be more than 25% super mega raids, it’s just dumb and i think it’s because Niantic wants to push their abomination of a mechanic.

Probably not the consensus, but yeah I would have liked to see more of the hours featured megas over the event long ones.

  2. I think it’s luck of the draw, because where I was playing the majority of the raids were standard mega, or Pika/Honedge ones….

Sorry that you didn’t get what you are hoping for, but in my area there was a decent mix of both.

And in terms of what people wanted to do it very much seemed like the opposite, crowds for the new raid bosses but at times a struggle to get more than a few on the old ones. Because a lot of players already got more than enough energy for those old bosses a while ago.

  4. What game are you playing? I could BARELY find any Super Mega Raids today. My town (moderately large) was FILLED with Xerneas, Yveltals, Pikachus and the occasional non-Super Mega Raid like Garchomp, etc. Dragonites and Victreebels were almost nonexistent most of the time

On the contrary, everyone who I was with (small group) were primarily intetested in SM Dragonite and Honedge raids, yet we were getting severely spammed by Victrebell and at times Pikachu.

I get that it’s all RNG, but it can really be a nightmare for a small group specifically to maximize their playtime when it’s a crap shoot half of the time. And the fact that you have to have 10 players to play just adds to the problem. Sure, we can all remote raid, but the cost is just too high for most. Especially now that you need 2 forms of currency to do SM raids. So, if you want specifics, you have to spend quite a bit of money I’m sorry to say.

Just look on the map the day before for which gyms are having the super mega raids and avoid those areas

didn’t see a single old mega, only saw the legendaries and the new megas with a sprinkling of the pikachu/honedge raids. if you play this game on foot and you’re not somewhere like nyc you can’t just run across the whole city looking for raids, my group was in a specific area playing and those were the gyms we had access to for the day. I think most people are in a similar situation…

  8. I was hoping that after 6pm there’re lightning rounds of basic mega raids for those that missed. Nope. So 1 hour locally to get special mega bg was brutal. The worst I’ve seen yesterday was a single gallade raid for the whole hour in the range that covered something like 30+ gyms.

  9. Same on my end. I didn’t need them, but where I played at a huge, major college with like 30+ megas at a time, and I only saw a single mega lucario for their hour, and 2 mega latios which I was actually trying for.

It kinda sucked for me. I was downtown for about 6 hours and not a single Super Mega raid came out in 30 + gyms. Had to break my rule of not spending coins on remote passes to do a Mega Dragonite raid.

I came back and I found out that 3/5 near gyms had Super Mega raids the entire time. I was already tired to host and walk there so I will just wait for a Victreebel rerun in the future. The spread is really bad tbh, seems that rural areas and low activity zones got the super mega raids while the most active ones got all the other raids.

In any case my goal was to register Hawlucha and I can walk my Dragonite for more energy. So all in all , it was a good day.

Yeah probably 20 gyms around the community area I play in and the nearest one that spawned Gardevoir the whole hour was a drive away so I didn’t get enough energy to mega. Really wish they would’ve prioritized the flow of spawns so that the pokemon the hour is for actually get a chance to show up

I thought this would happen and just stayed in my residential area as it appeared to have more regular megas. Turned out it was about the same if I went to the mall (I checked via campfire and the online pogo map) so maybe I didn’t have to do that but it’s fine cuz I will be able to go hard tomorrow

I think it would be better like they did with some GoFests, half hour for this kind, half hour for the other. So if you are not interested in one of those you have half an hour of doing other things, and then going to a gym you know will spawn something you want to do. If we wouldn’t have been that many people in the city centre, it would have been extremely hard to find enough players to just randomly do a raid you just went to. And still was a bit annoying to run around from gym to gym because the ones you waited at didn’t spawn something worth but the ones at the other end of the place did. It definitely caused people to not be able to plan ahead and have to rely on luck, was a bit chaotic at times.
