Hi there! After rereading over the rules, I hope this is allowed this time! I’m posting this in hopes to save others from what I experienced. Just like the title says, guys, beware of cheaper priced plastic cases! I bought a clear sparkly case off Amazon for around $15. It had great reviews at about 4.3 stars with over 4k reviews. Mind you, I had silicone cases on my switch 1 and switch lite, so I didn’t have the problem I later now have with my Switch 2.
I bought my switch 2 at the end of last year. The moment I put the case together on my switch, I noticed the joycon case was loose and would slide back and forth on the bottom of the controller case. The body case was fine, but controller part loose. Yesterday when I randomly popped off the front of the controller case to clean under it, I was wiping the front of the switch clean with a wet wipe and noticed a small scuff mark that wouldn’t come off. I think the plastic case sliding around loosely contributed (if not fully was the cause) to the scuff mark. Now, I’m a stickler when it comes to my expensive electronics. I IMMEDIATELY always put a screen cover and case on my handhelds and phone/tablet. I literally HATE when my expensive electronics get damaged. Idk why. Okay, maybe I do lol. I think it’s cause I grew up very poor and could never have nice things till I was an adult so I take good care of what I have 😂
It legitimately gives me anxiety and makes me so upset to look at scuff, cause A CASE THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO PRREVENT DAMAGE ENDED UP CAUSING IT! 😭
I was so upset because of the rave reviews the product got. The reviews really hyped up the product and people mentioned how the cases fit perfectly and would dock well even with the case on.
I’m not sure if it’s allowed to post the link to the clear case that was loose and wiggly so you know to stay away from it (because idk if that would be considered a witch-hunt or harassment of sorts), so I just thought I’d warn others from getting cheaper plastic cases! If you wanna go on the cheap side, I’d get a silicone case! Those have never damaged my consoles.
Rule 4 kinda confused me, and my post was initially removed, so if y’all want pics of the small scuff, lemme know in the comments and I’ll see if I can comment a link of the pics of the damage or something, if it’s allowed! I’m still a little confused on the whole thing.
Anyway, rant over haha. If any of you are interested in a silicone case that IS pretty affordable and comfortable to use while handheld gaming, I’ll leave the link to the one I bought, below 🙂 I’d highly recommend the silicone case I got. It IS cheap(er) as well, as it is priced at around $20 USD. BUT the silicone cases have been way better in general imo. Even after just using it for an hour, it’s so much more comfortable for handheld users. The down flaw I have is you can’t remove the joycon with the case on, and I haven’t tested yet whether it’s dockable. But I only play in handheld mode, so if you also do as well, I’d highly recommend this case! It’s so comfy and I love the little handles on the back.
THE LINK BELOW IS TO THE GOOD CASE I BOUGHT, NOT THE BAD ONE! 🙂
