You can thank Ubisoft for state of the series. Even when they were at their peak, they repeatedly chose to ignore the franchise in favor of Assassin’s Creed and Splinter Cell. I know there’s been talk of remakes, but with how they are in their current state, I have little hope.

And Rayman 3 was great–better than a 6, what are you talking about lol.

A bit off-topic, but the Polish dub of Rayman 3 is a gem…

If Mega Man can return after a long drought, then Rayman also could imo!.. (especially given there are rumors of an AAA Rayman game)

Rayman 2 is one of my favorite games. Love the first 2

Ubisoft doesn’t make the games widely available enough. A game as good as Rayman 2 should have a modern update available on every platform. Rayman Origins should have a version optimized for SW2/PS5/XSX

It feels like anything but Origins and Legends are underappreciated. Whenever I see Rayman, that’s what most people talk about. But the original trilogy is damn good. The first one is unforgivingly hard, but great. Rayman 2 and Rayman 3 are both awesome.

And what really isn’t talked about are the great 2D Rayman games on GBC and GBA, there’s quite a few. Hell, even Rayman Raving Rabbids on GBA is a 2D platformer (and an actual good game).

    > I wish Nintendo bought the IP since they were willing to recently give Rayman limelight in an in-house game (Sparks of Hope) that was very well received.

Both Mario + Rabbids games were developed by Ubisoft.

Rayman Origins is one of my favorite gaming experiences of all time. Such an amazing game. I really hope some day they continue with that series.

Rayman 3 as a 6 is definitely a hot take. Among most of the Rayman community, it’s a neck-and-neck fight between 2 and 3 for best in the series. They were also the best platformers in their respective generations.

Rayman is underappreciated, but that’s only because UbiSoft completely self-sabotaged the franchise *twice* and actively allowed it to drop off of people’s radar. It was, in its time back in the turn of the century, one of the best platformer series and UbiSoft’s mascot before Assassin’s Creed came along.

I played Rayman at my preschool. It was so hard. We all tried to get as far as we could. We all got stuck at the same point

All I remember about Rayman is when it was a Big Deal that Legends was going to be a WiiU launch exclusive, then at the last minute they pulled out and were a time-limited XBox exclusive instead.

Ubisoft isn’t interested in their own equivalent of Mario. They made it clear they wanted to invest in more “mature” games and franchises that make a lot money like Just Dance.

And is stupid because the Rabbids franchise exist, though it seems Ubisoft got rid of that too.

I admit I’m guilty of playing Rayman 3D but not playing Legends and Origins for whatever reason. I regret that honestly. Sounds like those games are delightful.

Nintendo sits on IPs and does nothing with them all the time.

Love the original trilogy and Origins/Legends are also amazing. I’d kill for a sequel to Legends. Why did Ubisoft kill this franchise?

  15. Rayman 1 being regarded as 9-10/10 with 3 as a 6/10 is insane to me lmao

  16. Have_A_Jelly_Baby

Can a game with like a dozen entries (including spinoffs) really be underappreciated?

  17. Proud-Recording793

    Coincidentally imagined Nintendo buying Rayman

Rayman 1 is a 9/10 game? Eh… Not sure about that one, chief…

2 and 3 are absolute bangers in my eyes. 3D Rayman is where its at.

Might be an ultra hot take but 2D rayman sucks and doesn’t even come close to the status of 2 and 3 IMO. Origins and Legends are both ultra mid games and IMO don’t recreate the same joy as 2 and 3.

Are they good games? Sure they are, but to me they are not true rayman games. We need a true successor to rayman 3. I’d love to see Ubisoft do another 3D Platformer again for rayman 4.
