You just sold me on something that wasn’t on my radar

    > Resident Evil was never family friendly,

    Correct

    >but with some endorsements by Nintendo to welcome RE9 to Switch 2 with open arms, including amibos, one would assume the game would be fine to let kids at least see as the adults play along.

What? No. And a quick google search would clearly show otherwise. Or maybe just look at the game’s rating.

    > Requiem is easily the most violent and visceral game in the series. Gore and violence is everywhere and extremely graphic, with blood mixing featured as a prime gameplay element.

Yeah, once again, look at the game’s rating.

    >I think this is a game that would very much traumatize even squeamish young adults.

Yes, clearly. That’s why it was rated what it was rated. And I quote:

“Resident Evil Requiem is rated M for Mature 17+ by the ESRB with Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, and Strong Language”

This warning is exclusively for those who are incapable of reading and basic common sense therefore they wouldn’t be able to heed said warning because it’s being presented as a Reddit text post and not a 20 second YouTube short or TikTok video.

Obviously parents should not let their children play or watch adult rated content. That’s the general rule. If you did this with your child it is no one’s fault but your own. This is the same type of mindset that caused the whole “video games cause violence” bullshit.

Once again, Lenny makes a post of how Nintendo allows anything above Sesame Street-type games on their consoles, and why they shouldn’t.

This is the type of person that took their 8 year old to Deadpool because it was a “superhero movie”

  6. PensionStandard8991

Not a single human alive would assume any of that.

If you’re a parent maybe just use your brain mate, play it and see how much gore there is? It’s not nintendos job to raise your children.

If you’re openly letting your child play Resident Evil, either you have actively engaged them with the genre or you have no idea what you’re exposing them to. This shouldn’t be a warning to anyone but bad parents who do not pay attention to what games they expose their kids to. Are you genuinely expecting something positive and cheery with a title called Resident EVIL? This has to be satire otherwise there are many deeper issues that need to be addressed here.

One absolutely would NOT make those assumptions. It’s still Resident evil, this isn’t the 90’s anymore where they remove blood just because it’s on the SNES instead of the Genesis.

Please understand, I’m not yelling at you but everyone who is not paying attention:

WHAT PART OF THE 17+ AGE RATING DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND?

Like seriously, the age ratings make it so easy a caveman can figure it out.

  11. CharacterZone8456

hell yeah my kid has been playing it and she is traumatised as hell lol

  12. deedee2148

People who still believe the “Nintendo is only for kids” myth are weird.

  13. Icy2Chill

I was playing mortal kombat at 4 years old on the wii. Why are people so scared of video game gore?

  14. microsoftpaint1

Why would you assume that? ESRB is on the box lmao

  15. No_Chemical_2086

I haven’t started the game yet, but given I’ve played a ton of Manhunt on PS2 and so have my younger nephews who have beaten the game on an emulated ps2, I doubt RE9 has any violence that would shake them or I.

Besides it has an ESRB rating for a reason.

  16. [deleted]

It is rated M for a reason. OP or anyone who does this, dont blame Nintendo for advertising the game. The rating is perfectly clear, not their fault you didn’t feel like doing your job as a parent.

No shit that a game rated fucking M for mature is targeting mature audiences

  18. Newone1255

Reaident Evil was exclusive to Nintendo for 4 years in the early 2000s lmfao

  19. Ms_Maxxy_

im 16 and played through the game without any problems with the gore. I do however agree with this. The game was very violent and pretty gross, and I would never ever let my little sibling watch me play it.

Also why the hell does this need to exist. Just because something is on the switch doesnt make it family friendly. Like cmon. I think it should be common sense that the game is rated m, so its not for younger audiences…………..
