Do vintage holo Pokémon usually have a swirl that goes around 360 degrees?
Part of a childhood collection of mine I found. Dude at my LCS/TCG store stated that this was the nicest Sabrina’s Gengar he’s ever seen.

No idea. Thats an awesome card tho.

This is a beautiful swirl. It happens but isn’t ‘usual’, and one this perfect including its placement significantly adds to the card’s value.

That just broke my brain wtf. How? Lol.

That particular holo pattern does indeed have a swirl, but many times it’s going to be cut off, have the Pokemon’s ink printed on top that hides it, or other ink from the card border hiding it. There are multiple holo patterns. You can find YouTube videos discussing every holofoil type for Pokemon TCG.
And yes, sometimes the swirl is a boon to collectors. Like for example, if a Pokemon is using an attack with a dynamic pose where they point, or open a mouth, or any other pose/gesture where it looks like the swirl is part of the attack.

So cards I had as a kid are vintage now huh? Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuaaaaaaaaaauuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhck
This might be the funniest way I’ve seen someone try to show a swirl lmfao but to answer your question yes. This is how swirls on this specific type of holo pattern look.
This Gengar in particular is a nice card for swirls since it has a ton of surface area where there is holo pattern. I wouldn’t say it’s common but it is definitely a card that has swirls fairly often.
For next time if you just tilt the card forward and backwards it will make the swirl “spin” like you’re seeing lol

I have that exact card and believe it also has the same swirl! Unfortunately, it’s at a faraway familymember’s house so I can’t take a picture at the moment to verify.

I like to call these infinity swirls – I’ve only seen them on Neo Genesis – Gym Heroes sets, and they’re very rare.

[Highly recommend checking out Sleeve No Card Behinds video on Holo patterns. Might find the answer you’re looking for.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQ2TvnHVdys)
