    The games are:

    PAC-MAN

    Mendel Palace

    THE TOWER OF DRUAGA

  2. sludgezone

Mendel Palace is the debut game for GameFreak.

  3. NES Pac-Man is notoriously bad, can’t wait to try it

I find it funny that NES Pac-Man was one of the games in this lineup, despite the fact you could already play it on Namco Museum Archives. Same with Tower of Druaga.

  5. WalkerIsTheBest

I cannot out what’s happening in Mendel Palace

  6. Ok-Significance4702

Great, 3 games I’ve already paid for as part of the Namco Museum Archives. Wonderful.

  7. ntwild97

Great, I bought Namco Museum Archives Volume I for nothing

Small nitpick: the CRT filter is (still) inconsistent with the CRT filters on other NSO apps

  9. CapPhrases

Ok…. Now how about some games people want?

  10. Not_Frank

How often do they add games to the virtual systems? Is there a regular cadence or basically random? (Sorry just got a switch 2 recently)

TOWER OF DRUAGA!!!!!!!!!!!!! PEAK IS ON NSO!!!!
(Go get the arcade archives or Namco museum version though too, the arcade game is amazing)

NSO sucks so hard. I’m glad I switched to emulation for retro games. They’ll trickle out this bullshit but Mario Sunshine is still nowhere to be seen after almost a year of the Switch 2.

  13. Could’ve sworn Pacman was already on NSO, insane it took this long

  14. MedusaMadman77

Get Namcot Collections instead or in addition to this. The Pac-Man CE and Galaga demakes are 10/10 must play games.

  15. Sathsong89

Goddamn it can we please put Pac-Man adventures on SNES NSO

  16. Yadahoom

I might be the only person that wants or even remembers Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures on SNES

  17. Professor_Poptart

I know it may never happen, but I really hope we get some licensed games on the emulation apps here. We have Quest for Camelot on the gameboy, but I think that’s essentially it? Goldeneye too.

So fun fact, NES Namco Pac-Man was released in 1993 as part of a deal that would allow Namco to become a licensee for the SNES (Nintendo had mandated that Namco release NES games in order to obtain an SNES license.).

However, that wasn’t the first time this game appeared on the NES. The same Namco Pac-Man was originally brought over by Atari Games and published under their Tengen label in 1988.

If you go to the NSO settings and order the app by date, Pac-Man shows up as a 1988 title despite the boxart and in game copyright showing the 1993 rerelease.

This is a nod to the fact that Pac-Man was one of three licensed games that Atari Games published before they went rogue and became an unlicensed publisher. To this day, Nintendo officially refuses to acknowledge in any official company histories that Atari Games/Tengen was a licensed publisher.

So I find the NSO Tengen reference funny.

I don’t know who has the rights to Data East / Irem stuff, but can we not get “Kung Fu” already? (Fun fact, Shigeru Miyamoto oversaw the NES port of that game.)

  20. ByronicWerther

The only Game Freak game I played and it was back then.

  21. Powelly87

Yawn fest. I know each month can’t be a blockbuster online release, but this is a strange batch.

  22. As was already mentioned, Not only was Mendel Palace a Game Freak game, it was the first game they did! It’s a surprisingly decent, pretty fun game! Though a small OST what is there is pretty catchy!

What many of you probably don’t know is in the late 90s Game Freak had been planning a Super Famicom version of the game!! The game’s Japanese name is Quinty. Here’s a link to a YouTube video with a little bit of gameplay from it. It leaked out in that massive Gigabit leak from a while back. Apparently it’s fully playable beginning to end too!

Judging by the title screen they were planning on releasing it in or around 1999, holy shit! No wonder why it was cancelled, it would have been among the last Super Famicom releases! No matter how you play it don’t sleep on that game!

Da hell they do to my boy Clyde? Who gave him the shit sheet?
