I wanted to share a recent scam experience and get your opinion.
I was trying to buy a Pikachu Van Gogh (Grey Felt Hat) sealed from a seller based in the Netherlands (claims to be from Middelburg).
I had to pay 50% of the amount (100 euros), and 50% when Pokemon card received
At first, everything seemed fine:
- He provided
two Irish
- IBAN (SumUp business account)
- He agreed to create a PayPal account
But things quickly got weird.
When I tried to pay via PayPal (Goods & Services), it “didn’t work” according to him. He refunded me those 100 euros immediately and then started insisting that I should:
- send money via bank transfer
- or use PayPal to send money to his bank account
He kept pushing that method instead of fixing the PayPal issue or sending an invoice.
When I said I only pay via PayPal Goods & Services, he replied:
“Okay then no deal bro”
“I know you can send it via bank transfer”
At that point I stopped.
Red flags I noticed:
- Refuses PayPal Goods & Services
- Pushes bank transfer repeatedly
- “PayPal doesn’t work” excuse
Does this sound like a scam attempt to you? Or just a seller who doesn’t understand PayPal?
