one of my favorite things in the buddy feature is when the pokemon leaves off screen to get their best buddy badge.
idk if anyone else has Nacli as a buddy but this creature is the slowest to move both on the map (it's funniest while you're driving) and when waddling into the screen, and as you could see, also off screen.
I'm so glad I managed to capture this moment bc it's so funny and cute and I'm glad Niantic/Scopely/Gamefreak did it like this lol.

I have like 20 best buddies and never knew they walk out to get the badge. Always gained their last heart off screen. 🥺

I had this happen recently with my shiny mega dragonite. I thought he flew off because data refresh error, but he came back ribbon’d! 3.3k Mega Energy to go…then Lucky Hundo Malamar…then my 15/14/15 Victreebel…then whatever else fucking comes…

It is cute. I have best buddied 10 so far but one didn’t walk off to get their badge. I was furious!! It just popped up next time I played with them.

My favourite Pokémon for this is Sizzlipede. I just imagine the Mr Krabs walking sound as he slowly makes his way on screen.
I remember back when nacli was first released I was so weirded out by it because I literally thought it was a piece of poop with toilet paper lol

Dottle is pretty fuggin slow too. It’s like a full 10 seconds before it even makes it on screen. ‘:D I evolved it with a few rare candies just to get the torture to stop.
