So sad GameFreak never made much of this game mechanic

There was so much potential in walking the world with some npc's, like some facility where you could walk around, do double battles and catch pokemon or find items with the help of your partner

I know that this is mainly what you did with them, but my point is that it wasn't permanent or redoable
