Somebody at GF clearly loves Ariados as much as I do, because as of this Gen its exclusive move "Toxic Thread" has been buffed. While it makes Ariados a little more threatening now, it's still not gonna accomplish much of anything without wearing a Focus Sash. And it's typing along with its abysmal stat spread just leaves it in a really awful position.
In my head, I'm taking this as a sign that hopefully it gets something in Wind & Waves, but that's more than likely cope. But I'd love an Ariados evo that drops the Bug typing and makes it Poison/Dark. Even without an ideal stat spread, that typing alone would be amazing for defensive purposes.
I don't know. I'm biased. Ariados would be my ace if it wasn't so bad. But if you have plans to buff a Pokemon from Johto, why not just give it another evo? That would've been a great idea the very first time Toxic Thread was even introduced. Signature move, final form.
