Pokemon Go

Anybody else have a bunch of missing assets on Google Pixel?

I recently switched to a Google Pixel phone, and the game runs fine but for some reason all over the game there are random missing assets. I've uninstalled the game, made sure to download assets afterwards, but it keeps happening. It doesn't happen every time though. Sometimes it looks normal and then it'll start doing this again. I have no clue how to fix it.

Pixel 10 Pro XL. Yes, since a month or two. Lots of black assets and popups. I have reloaded all assets and cleared cache, still remains.

    Pixel 6 Pro very rarely.

It’s a Pogo-specific issue and it comes and goes.

9 Pro XL here – usually I’ll have a couple black squares show up, a quick app restart usually takes care of it.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen an entire screen like that though.

I get this from time to time on my OnePlus, it usually goes away when I restart the app

This has been a problem for weeks across many devices, and has been posted dozens of times

I was going to say “see the Niantic support page”, but the entry has been removed.

It has been “resolved”, which does not mean what you might think it means. The issue is fixed on Android 16 by a Google issued fix.

If you can upgrade to 16 that might fix it for you. If you cannot then you are stuck with it unless Niantic can be persuaded to fix it on their side.

My workaround is to load the game, then wait a minute before doing anything. Check if the black squares are there. If they are restart the game and wait again. That usually clears it up for the day.
