Do these sprites look similar/ inspired by each other?

I just started playing pokemon emerald and looked at this guy that kinda resembled snorlax, so I looked snorlax sprite and kinda like the arms and legs position, eyes (but I understand there may not be much other way to display eyes on pixel) and the belly shape

So yeah, what do you think? Am I wrong?
