Definitely seek out the dmax Chansey. Dmax Excadrill is also an excellent budget tank. If you’re looking at regi specifically, getting a dmax Inteleon is also a good pick.
Try maxing out a few of the mons where you have lots of candy. Highly recommend getting chansey and prioritizing it as its considered meta for all dynamax raids essentially. The really premier dynamax pokemon come around occasionally and luckily for you, you can do the gigantamax raids this weekend for some of the best pokemon in their respective typings for dmax raids. Regardless, it’s a slow grind
Gigantamax event is this weekend. If you have a local meet up, getting at least one of each (charizard, blastoise, venosaur, gengar). They are significantly stronger than their dynamax counterparts and would help you progress.
For Dynamax battles you should bring 2 tanks and one attacker.
Evolve Machop to fight Chansey. Then unlock heal and shield for chansey. Make sure it knows pound as its quickmove.
Thats a solid alrounder tank. After that you can either get another of that or focus on getting a good attacker.
Next legi in dynabattles is registeel.
If possible for you i would try to get a Gigantamax Charizard on 25.04. as a good attacker.
Winning Gigantamax battles isnt easy so you need to find a bigger group.
Evolve roggenrola and upgrade its dyna attack for it.
To get chansey, you can build machop with max attack and its evolution garchomp. Use them in attack phase. Then gigalith maybe to tank ? (I already have Blissey so I tank with Blissey then attack with garchomp, it takes me 4 phases as a solo player).
Otherwise if you join any in person event this saturday, you could get a good gmax blastoise or venusaur. Best pokemons to get are gengar and charizard this week end, but in my case I don’t have any good gmax pokemon, so I’ll aim for the 4 of them. Regirock will still be available saturday evening and Sunday, so you can build your team until then.
In any case, if you join an already good team for dmax regirock, even if all your pokemons faint, cheering up is still very useful for your team 🙂
Chancy is first priority then join this weekends gigantamax day on Saturday and get a gengar and charizard then maybe a blastouise and venasaur
I just started out a few weeks ago myself, and this guide helped me out a ton:

You’ve already got good potential attackers. If you evolve Machop and max out it’s Dynamax attack, once you get one or two bulkier 1* mons like Corviknight, you should be able to handle a DMax Chansey solo, which would then enable you to do more 3* mons after you evolve it and level it up.
You have machop and Drillbur. Those 2 usually nest. Get candies and evolve them. Use mud slap or another ground fast move on the Excadrill. With an Excadrill and Machamp you should be able to solo a Chancey. See if you can get candies from chance to evolve into Blissey. I don’t think it is in field research so that may be harder. Evolve chancey into Blissey and make sure it knows pound. Power up the ants who also nests and evolve to alakazam. With a Blissey, Excadrill and Alakazam you should have enough for gmax venusaur, if in a group. Use Blissey Excadrill to catch poison attacks and Alakazam as attacker. Once you have venusaur do blastoise. Use Excadrill and Blissey as tanks and save gmax Venusaur for attack phase. Once you have blastoise do charizard, using blastoise,Blissey, and Excadrill.
Look into videos about using switches to tank certain moves.
I think all of the Pokemon would be useful and with very little waste. The most might be Machamp once you get a Gigantamax.
Yet no one cares
Even if you bring weaker pokemon to 5* dynamax battles, as long as you use fas 0.5s moves you will be very helpful to the other players. Most of these monsters will oneshot everything you can bring, so charging the bar as fast as possible to minimize KOs is a solid plan
thankyou everyone for the comments and advice i will use it where possible i didnt mention working 2 jobs so weekend events are always impossible for me otherwise this weekend wouldve been great for me, will focus on getting chansey and maxing machop and drillbur ❤️
If you have people to play with and are willing to spend some money, it’s worth using the lucky trinket from the go pass on one of the gigantamax attackers for sure
How you proceed depends on where you are and how much time and money you want to spend.
If you are able to join a large group then you can, more or less, win any GMax battle. You can be carried by others the first few times and then use you GMax mons to help everyone else. Once armed with GMax mons everything becomes much easier.
If you are, for whatever reason, unable to join large groups then you need to work differently. The usual strategy for T1/2 max battles is to brute force them with whatever the game suggests. For T3/4/5 you need to be a bit more careful The basic strategy is to have a tank to soak damage and fill the meter, then switch to an attacker to do the damage in the max phase. This is a very short, simplified and often unhelpful description. It’s up to you to look at each situation and decide how to play it.
The best tank/healer is generally Blissey, which means you need a Chansey. I don’t see one so you either have to wait or trade for one. As usual, if you play with others then trading is probably not too hard for one of those. If not, you will be waiting.
There are specialist tanks, but building multiple mons means a lot more resources that you may not have. Plenty of guides to consult online.
You have Drilbur, evolve that to Exadril and you have a very nice attacker and/or tank right there. Gengar, Machamp, are good as well.
None will be as good as GMax, which circles back to the start. If you are playing with a group, just tag along and get yourself some GMax. If not then you could spend coin and do remote GMax raids. Bear in mind that can be a frustrating experience because you don’t know how good, or bad, the other players might be until you have lost your pass.
If you want to be F2P and/or don’t play in a big group, then build up slowly over time. There is a lot to be said for taking your time. Buying instant results works for some people, others like to feel they have worked for the success.
get 2 chancey, evolve to blissey and change fast attack to pound and level up to 30
if IV is good, you can consider leveling up to 40 and unlock max guard
get a machop, evolve to machamp and change fast attack to counter and level up to 30
get another 3 friends and do the same, you guys should be able to take down the regi
