Pokemon Go

Can Niantic move events to 9AM-12PM in summer?

I am not saying it should be implemented. I just want to know how everybody would feel about the idea.

For me, this summer is almost touching 45C where i live, and most events (CD/Raid Day, etc…), I played for only an hour tops. I want to knoe about others? Do you feel comfortable going out in middle of day in summers? Is it managable where you live? If you are somewhere where it's not that hot right now, woud you be for/against having an event time like 9-12 or 10-1?

“Summer” is relative. December is summer in the southern hemisphere.

If it’s too hot outside, find a mall to play at. No different than when it’s -40F and a blizzard outside.

I work nights so having events early in the morning would absolutely suck. And for day shift people that’s like peak work hours.

Not to say that it isn’t very hot during the summer, but if we do this, why not just allow people to identify as Noctowls or whatever the morning equivalent is. It’s 7AM where I am now, and I’m still up, about to go to sleep. Even running events 2-5 is an inconvenience to me. If they allowed people to set their account to “Day” “Afternoon” or “Evening” it wouldn’t even take away from the social aspect of it.

Not if your living near equators but summers can go upwards and above 40⁰C sometimes … 38⁰C mostly and its sweating 😅

  4. Nblearchangel

You realize this is a global game, right?

  5. Specialist_Wonder113

Hell no. I ain’t waking up early for pogo.

  6. Special-Candle231

I would greatly appreciate longer hours more than anything else; most people work from 2-5pm, and even weekend events are hard because I work every other weekend. Even extending to like 7pm would be super helpful for a lot of players.

I understand that they want as many people out at the same time as possible, but its just frustrating to miss 75% of the events because they dont work with my schedule.

  7. IceCreamNarwhals

I’d like community day to actually be a day long, not three hours…

  8. NecroVelcro

They should have remained from 11:00–17:00 after the pandemic. Niantic’s “reasoning” that few people played for the entire six hours was ridiculous. Many, many more people were able to play for at least a short amount of time.

  9. Roberwt87

No! I work only late shifts, so 9AM is way too early!

  10. Ana_Kinra

I mostly wish theyd last the whole day or whole weekend, or let us pick which time slot we use within the weekend like gofest does. There always seems to be one person in my friend group who misses out because of their work schedule.

  11. Just make them 8 hours instead of 3 hours so people with weekend jobs, other hobbies, etc have a chance to play. I often miss events because there’s other things I’d rather be doing with my Saturday afternoons.

  12. NecroNile

Can Niantic just make it a whole day event instead of some stupid ass arbitrary time frame?

  13. nappysteph

They’re not going to change this years in now.

  14. Benjybobble

I just think 11-2 is reasonable (and means I get to go home and do stuff with my afternoon)

  15. fieregon

Tell me if this is a stupid idea but, what if we just give every player the opportunity to start the event whenever they please? let’s say theres a comday you really want to attend, but you have to work that day, you cannot have the day off, why not give the player a time window of let’s say 48 hours, and you decide when you want to play that comday during that time window? let’s say you get off work, you have the energy and time, so you start the event at 7 pm, then the event ends for you at 10 pm.

  16. DilithiumFarmer

Both in summer and winter I got stuff to do in the morning.

The real question is; why are events that are titled **DAY** limited to just 3 hours?

  17. Fullertonjr

Stop aiming low! All events should run 24hrs. Do you all ever notice that the only event that generally nobody complains about or has issues with are the rocket takeover events? What is the major difference between that event and every other event that gets released? It starts right after midnight and ends at midnight.

This is the way to handle events.

  18. justdont7133

My teenagers would never get out to an event if it was before lunch on the weekend

  19. Pinguino04

Same for me, im just skipping most event since it’s unbearable to walk under the sun

  20. jpierrerico

Tell me about it. This event is in the middle of dry season for us. While many still went outside, I stayed indoors since a power spot spawned near my place so I just send invites. I’m not after shinies or perfects cause as a day 1 player I consider gigantamax/dynamax as a lazy rehash of old pokemon I mean why would I abandon the one’s I grinded/raided for since 2016 for something that can’t use their new moves and stats outside the lock system.

  21. twinflxwer

I think they should bring back the 11-5 schedule that we had during Covid, just for some flexibility

  22. Not even the heat, 2-5 just writes off the day as it’s in the middle so I don’t bother. I’d rather a 9-12 or even 10-1 then I have another half of the day for whatever.

  23. AdTop4231

Pre-covid, they used to switch times for com day based on the time of year. 11-2 or 2-5. The only downside for me was that I always worked until 1pm on a com day that ended at 2 so I had one hour to grind right after work

  24. Verified_Peryak

Can they also stop doing event where you need 20-30 people to complete … literally impossible to do in small comimunities, need i remind that in sword and shiel you only required 4 player and you could only take one pokemon for gigamax … maybe they should take exemple …

  25. Yeah, my phone overheats and shuts off after a half hour on the game outside in summer. So, literally unplayable in summer.

  26. Critical_Cat_8162

Why not make the events 6 hours long instead.

  27. missmarymacaron

I wish they would only be on Sunday 😭 I work from 9-5 on Saturdays and it’s not the kinda job where I can reliably peek at my phone

  28. KatFoxxe

The only way to accommodate everyone is to make it a 24 hour event. Obviously, they would never do that. But as a night shift worker, that would be awesome.

  29. Direct_Word6407

I get that they want everyone moving grooving vibing sliding together, all at the same time, but they really ought to make events as tokens that can be used within a 24hour period.

One you pop your token/ticket, your event starts and you get 3 hours. This way local groups could coordinate when would be best for them. If they want people playing together, continue to incentivize it with in person rewards/check ins.

  30. JynxedByKnives

I hate the 2-5pm time with a passion. Any extension of the time frame would be so much better so i could actually participate. Some people have lives and cant dedicate every damn weekend to this game

  31. MattehPee

I don’t mind when in the day the three hour window is. I do mind that it’s only Saturday though. Not everyone is available every Saturday so it really should be alternating days over the weekend at least.

  32. Mundane_Upstairs3241

Their hours and schedules are so confusing. Weeks start on tuesdays at 10am? A month lasts into the first week of the next month, you can only do max battles during the day etc.

  33. boopbaboop

I work a normal 9-5 job, and I volunteer from 8:30 to 4 PM most Saturdays. Never in a million years would I be able to make a 9-12 or 10-1 event.

But also: there’s no way to please everybody. I’d love it for events (if they must be three hours) to be from 5-8 PM, but in a lot of places that’s courting mosquito bites in the summer and well after dark in the winter.

TBH they should just be 12 hours and have done with it but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  34. itchfingers

What about those that don’t wake up until 11-12?

They’d be writing off most teenagers with that timing.

Just make it longer so more people play, more people pay

  35. How about making it actually an all day event

  36. closetsquirrel

Or, and here’s a wild idea: it’s called Community *Day*, so let’s make it all day. Like 9AM to 7PM.

  37. Aetheldrake

9am to 9pm please. Everyone ends up with plenty of time, meaning more people will be willing to spend money because they’ll likely be able to actually make it to whatever event AND they’ll feel inclined to “make the most out of it” because of that.

Some people will also be less likely to spend money because they have all day, but it’ll likely bring in more money than it would lose because it would be more flexible and include more people.

I say this because unlike corporate people, most humans have varied work hours and obligations. Work, family, “chores”, friends, and to get time off of work you have to schedule it at least an entire month in advanced at some places, or more, so sometimes they aren’t able to get out on time and the event is already halfway or more over “why even bother it’s almost over” is how they’ll look at it

  38. James-Avatar

Maybe make community days actual days? Then people can go out when they please.

  39. Lord_Atmo

As a second shift worker, I have to say NO to this.

  40. Ok-Limit-9726

    2-6pm Australia 🇦🇺 year round is 🔥🔥🔥time

No idea why they cant do 6am to 10pm so everyone gets a turn!
