So they’re treating it like the fusions, but for mega energy? Damn…
LemonNinJaz24
Yeah of course they would split up the energy for Mewtwo.
And yeah of course they’d then split up the energy for every pokemon before the Z megas come in

>Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y are exceptionally powerful Pokémon that **require much more Mega Energy** than other Pokémon to Mega Evolve. This energy will become available for the first time from Mega Mewtwo Super Mega Raids during Pokémon GO Fest 2026.
>As a special bonus with its debut during Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Global, every Mega Mewtwo caught from Super Mega Raids will also have at least one Mega Level already unlocked and **can be Mega Evolved without the initial energy cost.***
This free mega evolution seems a weird choice to combine with the much higher energy cost. I mean, I’m not complaining, I love it, it just surprises me. Much higher energy cost means you have to do lots of raids to Mega Evolve. But unlocked mega evolution on every catch means it can also be one and done (well, two and done with the split energy) and you can just walk it if you want more energy. Not clear how the split energy will work on buddy walking, I guess. Again, I guess it’s just really nice – it means you can be F2P and get mega Mewtwo without going crazy on raids but if you want to get all the energy and unlock higher mega level right away, you can do that, too. It just feels so out of character. Makes me wonder if there’s a catch I haven’t figured out.

So raid until we both get enough energy for Mewtwo X and Mewtwo Y, then raid as many Mewtwo Y as I can for the Psystrike Mewtwo? Got it
Donttaketh1sserious
only… years… too late
real_Hank_Scorpio
If they’re going to split the mega energy what’s going to happen when you walk the distance required for mega energy? Up to now you could walk any of the same type to collect mega energy. Will this mean it stays the same and collect both types or will it be that you can only walk that pokemon and collect whatever energy type it’s been evolved to and it’ll have to have been previously mega’d
Friedchickennuggie
Is the zard the only one with a split path in pogo right now?
The way I’m reading the in person mega mewtwo is:
1) choice of x or y in a timed research that gives you mewtwo with the mega level already there
2) mega raids at the end of the park day
But what’s unclear (at least to me) is if we will get mega energy in the research or after the raids.
dark__tyranitar
So to those of us that purposely powered up multiple megas on split forms like Charizard, no problem. 🤣
Fr00stee
man i was hoping they would reveal all go fest spawns today as well
ShackShackShack
They don’t clarify if Counter will be ETM able sometime after the Global Event, right? Would be a shame for those who already had a Mewtwo powered up and ready to go, but wouldn’t be far off from Origin moves lol
New player here. Can I still remote into these mega raids?
Bearded_Platypus_123
so if I have a hundo Lucario, that I’ve already mega evolved to the max level, will I still be able to change it to it’s new form when that comes out? or do I need to do new raids for separate energy?

Money money money raids raids raids…
No unlocked mega level for (lucky) traded mewtwos. No counter for old mewtwo (not even elite TM mentioned). Just a kick in the a** for players who allready got mewtwo at level 50. I think quitting the mega-game is just as money saving as quitting the g/dmax- and the shiny-game as well.
I understand people like mega mewtwo, but with those changes, with every new „content“ update they make the game less and less interesting for long term players who just want to enjoy the game they know and NOT want to increase their spendings. Don‘t get me wrong, I spend a lot of money on the game. But I’m not willing to spend even more. To get the full mega-mewtwo content for a old hundo, we need 5000+ energy X and energy Y. Perhaps even more. That‘s 100+ raids, that‘s nothing a regular player wants to do for fun. Even me as a daily player, after a few hours of local raiding and 10 remote raids at home, the grind is more than enough. And that‘s high numbers in my opinion if you‘re not a whale.

“**if you’re lucky, it maybe even be mega level 2 or 3!”
That’s really neat actually, although I wonder what the odds of catching them at mega level 2/3 would be… either way, getting a high-IV Mewtwo at mega level 3 would be extremely beneficial and save a lot of time and mega energy, although you would still 5000 energy to progress to Mega Level 4.
Do they understand that **Quality of Life** changes are supposed to be for the **PLAYER** and not the **COMPANY???**
Significant-Chart-94
any idea on attack stats of this two in GO?

No mention of backgrounds at all? I’d be shocked if they do away with them.
Someboodeego
Noo it’s in those super duper mega raids again! Where I live there’s hardly anyone playing it so only way of beating it is with over 10 players so that means I’ll have to remote raid these if I really want mega mewtwo x/y but can’t afford much of those remote passes
Amazing_Result_9956
The mega energy split isn’t ideal but this is making me desire the ability for Elite TMs or having caught a Mon with a legacy move for that legacy move to be permanently added to the mon’s movepool.
For example, my hundo Mewtwo has both Psystrike and Shadow Ball right now (both legacy obviously), but if they end up releasing Aura Sphere for Mega Mewtwo X, I really would rather rotate between those 3 moves than have to sacrifice one (would be Shadow Ball) for Aura Sphere.
I feel like its unlikely they’ll make this change but… one can hope. And it would be nice for pokemon with expensive move pools like Mewtwo.

They’re really splitting the energies from now on…
Finally. “Including ones already cought” how generous of niantic. /s
Anyone needing help on remote, dm me
Hellz yah
Catching them with a mega level already is a nice addition and should’ve been a thing from the get-go
