When I was younger I drew a pokedex of my own region.
There is no real life equivalent of this region as it was before the games started to base regions on other countries so all of the pokemon are just based on things that I liked.
Reached out to an amazing artist on Fiverr, Bosgarong, who has been incredible at taking my old, and frankly bad drawings and turning them into brilliant Fakemon.
Would love to know what you think and which starter you would pick.

They are all really cool ! I like the three of them, but if I had to choose I think it would be the Leaffrog line !
Oh dear, that’ll be a hard choice between Leaffrog and Pyrodo. There’s just something about a dinosaur bird that’s also on fire. But Grass starters are forever in my heart and that toad looks like it’s having a jolly good time…

Not sure about the elevated head on the final crab, I wish I was lower like Klawf or Kingler and not higher like Crabominable.

A water crab that is a starter that doesn’t look overly cute is lacking these days.
I know you said it’s not region based, but all these designs are lovely and vibrant. Could fit them all in a tropical coast or island setting. A Caribbean Pokemon region would be so flavorful!

Pyrodo
The leaffrog line is probably the best designed evolution line here. All of these are exactly what I would expect from a professional pokemon design.
The pyrodo line looks a bit… bland. The chosen bird is unique, and its far from a bad design. But it just feels like its a bit odd for a starter design.
It moreso feels like a route 1 bird that you’d carry to the elite 4 (Like staraptor), or even an egg you’re given by a story relevant NPC. So yeah, I like the design. But I wouldn’t expect it to be a starter if you’d told me.
The crabble line I generally like. But i’m personally not a fan of him suddenly having a head. I feel as if it goes against what the rest of the line promises.
I also don’t really see anything rock related in the first & second stage of crabble. So that theme feels like it comes out of nowhere.
And if you’d told me that Crabolith is a mega evolution i’d instantly believe it.
I’m being a bit harsh on crabolith here. But thats mostly because he’s the only design I don’t like.
Now, as for what I would pick:
If I only saw the first stage I would probably go with Crabble. Because I generally like tough looking water creatures. And his first stage is adorable.
But based on their final evolutions I would go for Pyrode. Because thats a cool looking bird.
Leaffrog I also really like. But I prefer my third stage evolutions to look cool or tough. And bufoliage is just a bit too goofy looking for my personal tastes. Although I do think froliage is the coolest second stage here… so its tempting.
I’ll be taking Pyrodo first, but I’ll be snagging them all eventually.
