I used to love Pokemon as a kid back in the 90s/00s and I had a pretty fun collection to trade/battle with. I stopped collecting when I was 13 because I started getting bullied for it at school. I assumed my cards got lost over time or thrown out during a house move.
I’m nearly 40 now and last week my Mum and Dad cleaned out their attic and brought me a huge box of my stuff (baby clothes, an original gameboy, my grandad’s harmonica) but in amongst it was a folder of Pokemon cards (all shineys – is that the right term? It’s been literally 26 years haha). I also found a huge plastic box of non-shineys that was sealed shut with tape, some of those ones are Japanese I think. There are literally hundreds of them.
I don’t know anything about Pokemon besides what I can remember from back then, but it feels so good to be reunited with them as an adult. It feels like I’m looking at myself as a kid, before stuff started to get tough at school. I don’t have any interest in selling them, they have too much sentimental value, but I’m including some pictures in case anyone is still interested in older cards.
