Whenever I play Pokémon Firered or Leafgreen I always choose my favorite starter which is Squirtle. This time however, I decided to go through the game on my Switch using Bulbasaur. I also wanted to change this up with my team as I always used Jolteon, Jynx, and Nidoking. With this team I realized how good some these pokemon are on single player.
I have always used Dodrio and yes Snorlax is an overused pokemon, but its a pokemon I barely use and its widely versatile. Marowak was incredibly strong throughout when I finally got the Thick Club, yet she was not used during the Elite Four. I've always loved vaporeon and its design and I find it ad a more hard hitting water type than Laura's even though Laura's has stab ice type. Vaporeon was one of my more consistent attackers. Venusaur on the other hand, was more difficult to use as the game progresses. It's not as versatile with the moves it has or what I can teach it limiting it to only grass type moves.
The one Pokémon that truly shocked me and went on to become one of my best Pokémon throughout my playthrough was Butterfree. Even though it is only limited to Psychic moves; with the combination of Compound Eyes, Dream Eater, Whirlwind, and Sleep Poweder it was really clutch in situations like Erika, Koga, and even Lt. Surge. More Importantly, it plowed through Agatha, took on a few of Lance's Pokémon, and would be the last Pokémon to take down my Rival's Gyarados in a tug of war battle with a final Dream Eater.
This was a more difficult lineup to work with as it doesnt have as much coverage and the usage of underrated pokemon, but was truly fun to use. Next time ill have to do a Charizard run.
