Pokemon Trading Card Game

My best friend left me these Pokémon cards before he passed — still my most valuable collection.

His name was Chad.

We grew up pretty poor and couldn’t really afford packs of cards back then. So in our spare time we’d mow yards or walk along the side of the road picking up aluminum cans, then take them to the scrapyard for change. We’d save up everything we could, and whenever one of us had enough or made it to Walmart, we’d pool our money together and buy a pack or two of Pokémon cards.

We did that for a long time.

Out of all the packs we ever opened, these are some of the “best” cards we pulled. Nothing crazy by today’s standards, but as kids, we were beyond happy. I still have most of my cards too—mainly trainers and smaller stuff—but these were always special. I don’t open this box very often, but when I do, it brings back those memories instantly.

Chad passed away from lung cancer at 18 years old (1989–2007). Before he passed, he left me these—our favorite cards, the ones we were most proud of.

I love these cards to death. They’re worth more to me than anything I could ever pull now. One day, I’m hoping PSA or SGC does personalized slabs again. I’d love to get these authenticated with something like “Chad & Danny’s Cards” or “Chad’s Cards” on them.

Just wanted to share a piece of him with you all.
