Dumbest Medals in Pokemon GO, Scopely Needs to Change This!

As we need to obtain platinum medals to level up beyond level 70, getting some of them to platinum level is key. However, there are some medals that are just too ridiculous to complete, so Scopely, let’s talk about it…

  1. I’m at 47 platinum medals at lvl 75. The last 3 are gonna be brutal. I ran out of easy ones.

  2. my problem is XP not medals. Most medals, catch certain types of pokemon, unown, pikachu, etc. all were possible in July 2026 due to free events. Walking, trading miles, etc. are definitely harder. but you should be able to get enough medals to get in the mid-70s but for me the XP takes forever.

  3. I think if a medal literally can't be achieved like fighting team rocket boss more times than possible it should probably be changed.

Certain medals that are tedious don't need the number changed but the tedious nature should be.

Example 'feed all' for feeding berries. Similarly you could do open all, send all for gifts. Trade, evolve all for pokemon. Play/feed all for buddies. For batting gyms the next pokemon used to swap out instantly instead of having a 20-30 second animation between pokemon.

This wouldn't reduce the number for the medal but would significantly reduce the annoyance of getting the medal.

Then there are medals that are essentially paywalled like the raid medals that should be lowered. Getting 4,000 raid passes at 2 per day would take 5 years.

  4. 50k catch is easy, the walk 10k km is crazy, I’ve had this account since 2018, played on and off but I got back into it heavily last year again and I’m only at 4.6k out of the 10k and that’s almost 10 years of progress (again off and on but still)

  5. I think it especially makes sense to drop certain medals for everybody, and other medals for people just now getting into the game. They don't have 8+ years of playing the game for this to compound. I don't think that it should be possible to hit 80 within a year, or even two years. It SHOULD be a grind to hit 80 because thats the point firstly. It should also not be too easy so we don't discredit the work other people have done, secondly. It's already becoming hard to judge people's reliability in raids by level, I would hate to make it much harder than right now. However, things always become easier over time, so it may be unavoidable. Again though, things should be a bit easier to achieve for people just getting back into the game or returning. If I were a level 42 just getting back into the game, I wouldn't even be considering the grind to 80 unfortunately.

  6. I don't know where you guys are getting your piles of xp. "We get so much xp, it's irrelevant" XD

I don't consider myself hardcore, more like consistent casual. Pretty much every day, I at least do my adventure egg, catch what I can with great/excellent throws, spin stops with the Plus+ while at work, 1 raid (1* or 3*), 1-3 Dynamax, send 60 gifts and feed a few berries to gyms here and there.

After all that, I still find xp to be critically low. I'm 74 and my level up tasks since 70 are always done way before I get enough xp to level up. I'm at 48 platinums and working on the trading ones to get 50.

I guess it depends on what someone focuses on as activities! 🙂

  7. I'm struggling way more with XP than medals. I'm currently Level 78 for XP, but I already have 54 Platinum medals.

  8. For the Jumbo Pokemon Collector, when you get a pokemon with it saying either, tallest, heaviest or even XL evolve it and it will count towards your medal. Your welcome.

  9. I'm going to have to disagree with you on this video lol

This game is 10 years old and the platinum medals are a sign of that. Not everyone is meant to be 80 and level 80 isn't needed to play the game. I say enjoy the journey.

  10. The 200 Best Buddies is insane. Even half that would be a lot. That and the Rattata and Magikarps. I wish they would'be fused those with just generally small/large Pokemon. And add a Dynamax/Gigantamax medal instead.

Ace Battle is stupid but at least it's easy….

  11. The worst badge is best buddy. I'm level 80 and only have 12, I just refuse to do it unless research forces me to

  12. Why are there no medals for max battles? 😭 why are there no medals for shiny or hundos? 😭😭 why are there no medals for nice/great/excellent throws? 😭😭😭 like so many things you’d think would be medals that are just missed and then we have dumb medals like XXS rattatas and post cards. AND WHY IS TUNDRA SO HARD TO GET!!!!

  13. For Great, Ultra, and Master league medals, I just use my alt account because Im not a fan of Go Battle league.

  14. Good video. I think the Champion medal for "win 2000 raids" should just be made to "win 4000 raids" but include legendary raids. I always thought it was stupid how it says "win xxx raids" but didnt include Legendary raids? It doesnt state that anywhere.

  15. Platinum is not meant to be easy, I like the challenge and time it takes, gives you more to work towards.

  16. To me, the Backpacker medal is the one that's most messed up. I've been playing since the beginning, but I'm not a hardcore player and I spend some money, but not a lot. I have my Jogger, Collector, Scientist, and Breeder platinum medals, as well as a few others. However, I'm only about 55% complete with the Backpacker medal. It's completely skewed imho. The Sightseer is another one. I've not even gotten gold for that one yet.

  17. I'm a somewhat hardcore player (approaching 500 million xp), I don't have a platinum magikarp badge. I'm at 744, and I did get some via trading…

  18. I’ve been playing since 2016. I live rural.. nearest stop is 8 km away. I have all of my medals required for level 80. But I wish they would introduce medals for dmax and GMAx. Maybe a medal for gold gyms. And maybe excellent / great / nice throws. Maybe a shiny collector medal.

  19. The plat medals really are a huge hurdle for newer players getting into the game. You don't even have to be a 'new' player to struggle with them, you could have been playing for 2-3 years and still struggling to get anywhere close with a bunch of them.
Not that I play crazy amount, but I have been playing since release day and I am nowhere near some of the medals, such as Magi and Rattata.

  20. I play since 2018 i am level 80 but the medal of Picnicker for me it is far away. I do not have a pokestop close to my house and there are only 5/6 players in my town..

  21. It almost makes me want to quit for good. I would never get many of these medals because I'm not doing stuff that is a chore.

  22. i like how some of them are hard, it makes the game more fun when you have something to achieve to, but some of them are complete bs

  23. Medals are the toughest but i am currently have 51 medals completed and i am working rest so i dont have to worry about when they go from 80 to 100 down the line. Fisher and youngster medals will take the longest to finish to wait for rng to spawn them and the right size/height for them to count

  24. Plat metals should be hard. However, fisher and youngster should be reworked to be applicable to the current meta.

  25. I've been playing since July 2019, so not an original player.

No mention of the type medals?

For me, the Ace Trainer and Best Buddy medals go together. I presently have 229 Best Buddies which was achieved using a combination of daily use of poffins (generally one per day), battling the trainers (contributing to the Ace Trainer medal), and swapping among at least 10 Pokemon a day. I currently have 6264 Ace Trainer battles. I estimate I took 2 to 2.5 years to get there. A long term commitment for sure.

I definitely agree with your assessment of the Fisher and Youngster medals … I do not forsee ever making these platinum. And the Veteran medals … my experience with GBL is an exercise in frustration and disgust. I'm glad I don't need those platinums for anything. I certainly do not look forward to the level 80 requirement for winning 80 GBL battles.
