Nintendo UK has confirmed that the pricing for its Nintendo Switch 2 console will increase by £24 from 1 September 2026.
The company had announced back in May that the pricing of its portable home console successor would be increased globally from that date.
We already knew that would see the price rise from $449.99 to $499.99 in the United States and from €469.99 to €499.99 across most European countries, but the revised pricing for the United Kingdom had remained unknown until now.
“From 01/09, Nintendo Switch 2’s price will be revised from £395.99/€469,99 to £419.99/€499,99 on Nintendo Store,” Nintendo UK announced on social media.
The price increase has been attributed to “various changes in market conditions, which are expected to extend over the medium to long term,” with the company acknowledging that the impact would be “challenging for customers” but that they “deeply appreciate the continued enthusiasm of our fans for Nintendo products and experiences.”
Nintendo isn’t alone in making such a difficult decision, with both Microsoft and Sony raising hardware prices for their Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 consoles. This comes in response to pricing for Random Access Memory (RAM) and storage components having dramatically risen, which has been attributed to demand surrounding the construction of new artificial intelligence (AI) data centres.
