SOEDESCO and Senscape have announced that their slow-burning, supernatural horror adventure ASYLUM is in development for Nintendo Switch.
With the developer having taken inspiration from H. P. Lovecraft’s novels, Hammer horror films, and European horror cinema of the 1980s, you play as a former patient of the Hanwell Mental Institute who is haunted by unsettling visions.
You must explore the now long-abandoned and decaying building, uncover the disturbing truth about its sinister past and piece together a haunting mystery.
With gameplay filled with immersive exploration, environmental storytelling and compelling puzzles, the games builds tension through its oppressive setting, memorable soundtrack and narrative rather than relying on constant jump scares.
The publisher has outlined the game’s key features, which include:
Psychological horror story rooted in the traditions of classic horror cinema.
10 hours of gameplay, with additional mysteries and hidden secrets.
Challenging puzzles that require careful observation and exploration.
Haunting soundtrack inspired by classic 80s horror films and the work of John Carpenter.
Horror driven by suspense and atmosphere, with just a handful of carefully placed jump scares.
ASYLUM will be released digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide in 2026.
