Raikou will be our new research reward in the month of August. While Raikou has historically been one of the best raid counters in all of Pokemon GO, you may want to hold off on powering any up. Given that there is no current or future meta call for a powerful Electric-type Pokemon, there aren’t many reasons to power a Raikou up. Furthermore, Gen 4 will bring several powerful Electric-type Pokemon that may surpass Raikou in damage. For these reasons I feel it could be a good idea to hold out on powering up a Raikou unless you have plans to use it soon.
