Opening at Denver Museum of Nature & Science in May, the exhibition showcases real fossils and specimen casts displayed alongside Pokémon.

DENVER — An exhibition blending fossil specimens and Pokémon will come to Denver in 2027.

The Pokémon Fossil Museum special exhibition will open at Denver Museum of Nature & Science on Friday, May 28.

The Denver museum said the exhibition showcases real fossils and specimen casts alongside well-known Pokémon.

Guests will explore how fossils are found and studied in both the Pokémon and real worlds while examining the similarities and differences between the specimens and sculptures. Among the exhibition’s fossils and specimens is a cast of the SUE the T. rex skull.

The Pokémon Fossil Museum exhibition began a North American tour in May at Field Museum in Chicago.

“Pokémon Fossil Museum offers a unique way to engage guests of all ages with paleontological science,” said Patrick O’Connor, director of Earth & Space Sciences at the Museum. “By pairing familiar Pokémon with actual fossils from natural history, we’re creating a unique entry point for learning about prehistoric life and the scientific process of studying fossils.”

The Denver Museum of Nature & Science said tickets aren’t yet available, but the public can sign up to be notified when they go on sale.
