Zelda 40th Anniversary Nintendo Switch 2 consoles are now out in the wild after they released on 29 October. There were some issues with availability and the console has been quick to sell out, but we’ve spotted it in stock at one retailer.
The limited edition consoles are designed to celebrate 40 years of the iconic action adventure series from Nintendo. The Zelda version of the Switch 2 console is the same technically as a regular Switch 2 unit, but it has unique aesthetic features.
The Zelda Switch 2 console has a box with a Zelda 40th Anniversary badge on it. The console itself has black and gold triangles on the back, representing the Triforce logo.

The Joy-Cons are green, and have more Triforce logos in a darker green on them. As you hold them, on the left Joy-Con, an early design of Link can be seen holding up the logo and Zelda herself can be found on the back of the right one.
The dock itself is black and gold, like the main console, along with a big Triforce symbol in the middle along with other triangles in the same colour scheme off that. There is a limited edition Pro controller to tie in with the 40th anniversary, too.

Zelda turns 40 this year and as well as the console, a full 3D remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, widely considered to be one of the best games of all time and the highest MetaCritic rated title ever, releases on 5 November. That’s a Switch 2 exclusive and it will not be available on original Switch consoles.
Ocarina of Time remake will have reimagined visuals, a refreshed soundtrack and modernised gameplay to bring one of gaming’s most classic quests in–line with modern standards and expectations.
