Did you know that November 1st is Pikmin Day? It is now, according to Shigeru Miyamoto who, during a surprise Nintendo Direct, declared it as such, before delivering some news about this action/puzzle series. Why November 1st? Because, apparently, the three original Pikmin together look like 1.11.
Could there be a brand new Pikmin game around the corner?Unfortunately, no. Announcing the Direct, Nintendo made it clear that it wasn’t announcing any completely new Pikmin titles. However, we did get to see a little more of the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Pikmin 4.
This special enhanced edition will include a new time-limited, treasure-hunting Dandori Academy mode, which allows you to earn medals, as well as the option to give your canine pal Oatchi voice commands. Nintendo has dropped a demo and your saves will transfer to the full game. Plus, if you’ve got the Switch version of Pikmin 4, you can upgrade for £7.99.
Pikmin 4 aside, the Direct also dropped some new information about Pikmin Bloom. This mobile-only title is getting a new Secret Caves update, which will send your Pikmin down into the depths to explore and battle Bulborbs. The Direct also explained that you can unlock special maps by connecting Pikmin Bloom to Nintendo Switch 2 Pikmin Bloom and completing in-game exams.
And, while there’s no confirmation of a Pikmin 5, these curious little creatures will be starring in their own series of shorts, Hello! Pikmin, with episodes dropping through the Nintendo Today app. You can play the entire Pikmin series on Nintendo Switch, and the Switch 2 edition of Pikmin 4 arrives this November 12th, 2026.
