Aspyr has announced Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year Edition and Middle-earth: Shadow of War Definitive Edition for Nintendo Switch 2, with both games launching on September 30.
Originally developed by Monolith Productions, the two action games will make their Nintendo debut with their previously released DLC and bonus content included.
Shadow of Mordor Brings the Nemesis System to Switch 2
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor follows Talion, a Ranger killed alongside his family on the night Sauron returns to Mordor.
After a mysterious spirit brings him back, Talion hunts Sauron’s forces while learning more about his supernatural companion and the Rings of Power’s origins.
Its Nemesis System generates enemies that can gain power, remember previous encounters, develop rivalries, and react to the player’s actions.
The Game of the Year Edition includes the Lord of the Hunt and The Bright Lord campaign expansions, additional Warband missions, runes, and character skins.
Shadow of War Includes Its Story Expansions
Middle-earth: Shadow of War expands Talion’s campaign with fortress battles, army building, a new Ring of Power, and an expanded Nemesis System.
The Definitive Edition includes the Desolation of Mordor and Blade of Galadriel story expansions, along with the Slaughter Tribe and Outlaw Tribe Nemesis expansions.
It also includes the Sword of Dominion bonus weapon.
Aspyr notes that the Garrison has been adapted for offline play, allowing players to reassign undeployed Orc followers between regions without an internet connection.
Online Conquests, Vendettas, Fight Pits, Chests, and Training Orders will not be available in the Switch 2 version.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year Edition and Middle-earth: Shadow of War Definitive Edition launch September 30, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2.
The releases follow Aspyr’s recent Nintendo Switch 2 launch of The Lord of the Rings: War in the North – Legacy Edition, and the publisher has also teased additional classic Lord of the Rings releases for the future.
